Overview
Help shape how Lutron’s products are built
What if your next learning and development role placed you close to the people, processes, and technology that bring great products to life?
Lutron is looking for a Talent Development Manager - Manufacturing to help strengthen the capabilities of the employees who build our products and serve our customers every day. This newly created role will shape the learning strategy for Lutron’s U.S. and Puerto Rico manufacturing operations, partnering with plant leaders, supervisors, subject matter experts, HR colleagues, and employees across the organization.
You'll help ensure our manufacturing workforce has the technical, functional, professional, and leadership skills needed not only to perform today's work effectively, but also to grow into tomorrow's opportunities. Working in a complex, technology-oriented, quality-focused environment, you'll connect learning initiatives to operational priorities and business results.
This is an opportunity to build something meaningful: a more consistent, connected, and business-focused approach to learning across Lutron Manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Build the learning strategy for Manufacturing
- Partner with manufacturing leaders to identify capability gaps, development priorities, and future skill needs.
- Translate business and operational priorities into practical learning roadmaps and strategies that support operational excellence, continuous improvement, quality, and Lutron's principles.
- Build strong leadership ownership for learning and development across the manufacturing organization.
Design learning that improves performance
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging learning experiences across manufacturing roles and levels using on-the-job learning, classroom instruction, e-learning, blended learning, coaching, and performance support.
- Facilitate onboarding experiences and partner with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure learning is accurate, relevant, practical, and connected to the work.
- Work with content owners to keep technical, functional, professional, and management learning current.
Create a stronger manufacturing learning portfolio
- Define and manage the learning portfolio for Manufacturing.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage external learning partners and training vendors.
- Forecast learning investments and help ensure continuing education resources are used thoughtfully and effectively.
- Identify opportunities to standardize and scale high-value learning across plants.
Help leaders build a culture of development
- Coach and support team leaders, supervisors, and plant leaders in their role as developers of people.
- Serve as a trusted learning consultant by diagnosing performance and capability gaps and recommending learning, change management, or organizational development solutions.
- Strengthen compliance, safety, quality, and measurement
- Partner with program owners and line leaders to support the deployment of compliance, safety, and quality learning.
- Use learning management systems, data, feedback, and business insights to track participation, completion, progress, and learning effectiveness.
- Continuously improve learning programs, processes, systems, and tools, and share lessons learned to strengthen learning practices across the company.
You’ll thrive here if...
- You are energized by being close to the work and learning directly from the people who perform it.
- You enjoy moving between strategy and hands-on execution.
- You can earn credibility with hourly employees, supervisors, plant leaders, engineers, HR partners, and senior executives.
- You see learning as a business capability—not simply as a catalog of courses.
- You are comfortable working across multiple locations, functions, shifts, and levels of the organization.
- You bring sound judgment, curiosity, practicality, and the confidence to engage constructively with challenging issues.
- You care deeply about helping people grow while also improving the performance of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical education, management, process engineering, industrial technology, or a related field.
- 12+ years of professional experience following completion of academic studies, including 5+ years of people leadership experience or experience leading large-scale projects or initiatives and influencing direction across teams.
- 7+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Organizational Development, or a related field, supporting learning and capability development in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementing and managing skill-based development programs.
- Familiarity with production, quality, continuous improvement, or related manufacturing systems.
- Experience with learning management systems, learning analytics, and training evaluation.
- Experience leading and managing learning, talent development, or organizational development projects and programs.
- Ability to travel to manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico for a total of approximately once per month on average, with increased travel expected during onboarding and ramp-up periods, and ability to occasionally work across multiple shifts as business needs require.
- Spanish language fluency is a plus.
- You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.
