Experienced Professional Dog Trainer in Portland, Oregon at Arcadian Canine

Arcadian Canine is hiring dog trainers to join our growing Portland team. This role is primarily focused on private, in-home lessons throughout the Portland Metro area, helping clients build obedience, improve behavior, and learn how to lead their dogs with calm, clear, and consistent guidance.

We are looking for trainers who are skilled with dogs, excellent with people, and strong communicators. Trainers should be reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently while following Arcadian Canine’s systems and training standards.

(Board and train opportunities may be available for qualified trainers, but they are not required.)

$50,000 - $85,000 yearly

• Lead private, in-home dog training lessons with clients and their dogs throughout the Portland Metro area.
• Build and follow practical training plans based on each dog’s needs, behavior, and owner goals.
• Coach clients clearly so they can continue the training successfully between sessions.
• Communicate clearly, consistently, and proactively with clients and the Arcadian team.
• Work with a variety of dogs, including puppies, small breeds, large breeds, reactive dogs, and behavior cases.
• Use training tools appropriately, including food rewards, leash work, prong collars, and e-collars when suitable.
• Complete lesson notes, updates, and internal documentation on time while following Arcadian Canine systems and safety standards.

Board and train opportunities may be available for qualified trainers, but they are not required for this role.

• 1+ year of professional dog training experience.
• Excellent communication skills with clients and the Arcadian team, including clear updates, timely responses, and professional follow-through.
• Comfortable working with a variety of breeds, sizes, ages, and behavior challenges.
• Confident using a balanced training approach, including rewards, leash work, prong collars, and e-collars when appropriate.
• Reliable, organized, punctual, and able to manage an independent schedule.
• Comfortable driving to appointments throughout the Portland metro area.
• Open to feedback, continued education, and growing with the team.
