Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing and scheduling daily maintenance activities as needed throughout our warehouse facilities as assigned through the maintenance log and the Operation Manager, to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient facility. You will collaborate and obtain quotes and pricing with external vendors for jobs requiring specialized repairs and services. This position will also be responsible for operating the snowplow attached to the company truck to clear facility parking lots as needed.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee daily maintenance activities across assigned facilities based on the maintenance log, work orders, and direction from the Operations Manager.
- Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on facility systems, production equipment, machinery, and utilities to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operations.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, compressors, lighting, doors, docks, shelving, conveyors, floor scrubbers, scissor lifts, forklifts, and other facility equipment and infrastructure.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and building systems to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and potential equipment failures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete repairs accurately and efficiently.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for plant equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
- Coordinate and schedule specialized repairs and routine maintenance with outside contractors and vendors.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor quotes to secure competitive pricing and quality service.
- Manage spare-parts procurement, inventory levels, tools, supplies, and vendor relationships necessary to support maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, vendor services, and completed work orders using MaintainX software.
- Assist with equipment installations, relocations, facility upgrades, and continuous-improvement projects.
- Identify recurring equipment or facility issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions and long-term solutions.
- Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are used safely, properly maintained, and stored appropriately.
- Perform all maintenance activities in accordance with company policies, safety procedures, GMPs, HACCP requirements, and customer-specific standards.
- Train and provide direction to staff assigned to assist with maintenance priorities and projects.
- Perform timely and thorough snow removal and salting of company parking lots, entrances, and walkways as needed to ensure safe access during winter weather.
- Maintain clean, safe, neat, and organized work areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- At least 5 years of proven experience as a knowledgeable commercial property maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
- Experience and competence with computers.
- Ability to use basic warehouse maintenance equipment.
