About the Role

Type: Full Time Mon-Thurs 4:30pm – 3:00am
Location: Mayzo Operations Center in Walterboro, SC
Position Summary
The Production Manager (2nd Shift) is responsible for leading all production operations at the Mayzo Operations Center while ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing environment. This role oversees production personnel, drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages production schedules, and ensures products are manufactured safely, accurately, and on time. The Production Manager partners closely with Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, and Operations leadership to achieve operational excellence and meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Lead daily production activities to ensure production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Plan and coordinate staffing, workflow, and production priorities to maximize productivity.
- Monitor key production metrics and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
- Maintain accurate production records, inventory transactions, and operational documentation.
- Partner with Maintenance and Logistics to maximize equipment uptime and material availability.
- Ensure adequate inventory of production supplies and consumables.
Quality
- Ensure all production activities comply with approved batch records, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Monitor production yields and investigate variances.
- Partner with Quality and Operations leadership to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support ISO quality standards and maintain compliance with documentation requirements.
Safety
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and PPE requirements.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and address hazards proactively.
- Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Management
- Lead, coach, develop, and mentor production employees, including both full-time and temporary staff.
- Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Develop cross-training plans to improve workforce flexibility and operational continuity.
- Ensure employee training is completed and documented in accordance with ISO requirements.
- Utilize visual management tools and production boards to communicate priorities and performance.
- Manage departmental budgets and production resources responsibly.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience.
- 5+ years of manufacturing or production leadership experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 5S principles.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to analyze production data and make data-driven decisions.
Preferred
- Experience in the chemical, specialty chemical, coatings, plastics, or related manufacturing industry.
- Experience working within an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
- Experience using ERP or manufacturing execution systems.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or formal continuous improvement training.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
