A Seasonal Athletic Coach is responsible for assisting in the operation of the College's athletic program during the designated playing season. Under the direction of the Head Coach, this position provides instruction, supervision, and mentorship to student-athletes while promoting academic success, sportsmanship, and personal development. Responsibilities include assisting with practices and competitions, ensuring compliance with institutional, conference, and governing association rules, and contributing to a safe, positive, and inclusive team environment. This position performs duties at the direction of the Head Coach and supports the mission and values of Spartanburg Methodist College.

Typical Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and competitions.
• Provide instruction in sport-specific skills, techniques, and strategies.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, team travel, and other team activities as assigned.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and academic success among student-athletes.
• Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes in accordance with College and governing association rules.
• Monitor and maintain equipment and facilities as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with all College, conference, and governing association policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
• Maintain appropriate certifications/training required by the College or governing association.
• Foster a safe environment by following established safety procedures and responding appropriately to emergencies.
• Perform administrative duties and other related responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
