Sterilization Technician

Overview

True Image Orthodontics, a growing orthodontic practice, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Sterilization Technician to support clinical operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all instruments, equipment, and operatories meet the highest standards of cleanliness, sterilization, and infection prevention.

The Sterilization Technician plays a critical role in maintaining patient safety, supporting efficient clinical workflow, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Primary Responsibilities

Sterilization & Infection Control

• Operate autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other sterilization equipment to clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments according to established protocols.
• Follow all OSHA, CDC, and infection control standards to maintain a safe and compliant clinical environment.
• Maintain accurate sterilization logs, biological monitoring records, and equipment maintenance documentation.
• Perform routine testing and quality checks to ensure proper sterilization processes are consistently achieved.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or sterilization concerns to leadership promptly.

Clinical Support

• Prepare and stock treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and necessary clinical supplies.
• Turn over operatories between patients to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Assist clinical staff with instrument setup and breakdown throughout the day.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all treatment areas, sterilization rooms, and laboratory spaces.

Inventory & Supply Management

• Monitor inventory levels of sterilization supplies, PPE, and clinical materials.
• Assist with ordering and restocking supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels.
• Organize storage areas to promote efficiency and accessibility of instruments and materials.

Administrative Support

• Maintain organized records related to sterilization processes and compliance requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing development opportunities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall office operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in orthodontic, dental, medical, or sterile processing environment preferred.

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with sterilization equipment and infection control procedures preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

• Clinical and sterilization environment requiring adherence to strict infection control protocols.
• Frequent exposure to cleaning and sterilization agents.
• Moderate noise levels from dental and sterilization equipment.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, masks, gowns, and eye protection.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment up to 25–50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and movement throughout the clinical area.
