Psychologist in Valhalla, New York at Westchester Medical Center

Westchester Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and clinically skilled Psychologist specializing in Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Inpatient Psychiatry. This position is an integral member of our multidisciplinary behavioral health team, providing assessment, treatment, and care planning for adolescents and young adults experiencing acute psychiatric crises. Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and suicide/self-harm risk assessments.
• Provide crisis intervention and behavioral management for high-risk patients.
• Lead evidence-based psychotherapy groups, including CBT, DBT skills, emotion regulation, trauma-informed care, substance use recovery, and resilience-building.
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, counselors, and other treatment team members to develop individualized care plans.
• Support families through consultation, psychoeducation, and transition planning.
• Supervise psychology trainees and participate in teaching, program development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology, Child Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field from an APA-accredited program.
• Licensed Psychologist (or licensure-eligible within institutional timelines).
• Experience working with adolescents and young adults.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and facilitating psychotherapy groups.
• Strong multidisciplinary team collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Experience in inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, residential, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient settings.
• Advanced training in DBT, CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, ACT, CAMS, and/or ASD-related interventions.
• Experience supervising psychology trainees.
• Interest in teaching, scholarship, and program development within an academic medical center.
