What’s the job?We’re looking for a Team Lead, Commercial Producer to join our growing Phoenix team. This is a true player-coach role—you’ll personally write new commercial trucking and transportation business while leading, coaching, and driving production across a team of 15–20 Commercial Producers.
You’ll be in the business alongside your team: working leads, closing business, sharing what works, and helping producers improve their performance. Success in this role means hitting your own production goals while creating the accountability, energy, and coaching needed for your team to consistently hit theirs.
Responsibilities
Lead & Develop the Team
- Lead, coach, and support a team of 15–20 Commercial Producers, driving consistent progress toward individual and team production goals.
- Provide hands-on coaching based on producer activity, pipeline performance, conversion results, and identified skill gaps.
- Set and communicate quarterly team production goals in partnership with Sales Leadership.
- Track performance against established goals and quickly identify opportunities for additional coaching or support.
- Address underperformance through clear expectations, documented coaching, and performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Create a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance sales environment where producers are motivated to grow.
Produce & Drive New Business
- Maintain your own book of new business production and consistently work toward an established monthly New Business GWP target.
- Prospect, quote, present, and close commercial insurance solutions for trucking and transportation customers.
- Model strong sales behaviors and best practices that producers can apply to their own pipelines.
- Partner with Sales Leadership on forecasting, sales strategy, and regular reporting on individual and team performance.
Bring Commercial Trucking Expertise
- Serve as a hands-on resource for producers navigating trucking and transportation insurance opportunities.
- Provide guidance across key commercial coverages, including motor carrier, cargo, general liability, and related fleet products.
- Help producers navigate carrier appetite, underwriting requirements, and more complex opportunities.
- Ensure new business is accurately documented and bound in accordance with carrier requirements, underwriting guidelines, and company standards.
What’s the work location?
You’ll be based out of our headquarters in the Warehouse District of Downtown Phoenix—a 17,000-square-foot space designed for collaboration, creativity, and connection.
Because this is a hands-on sales leadership role, you’ll work closely with your producer team in the office, giving you the opportunity to coach in real time, stay connected to the sales floor, and help build the energy and accountability of a growing organization.
- 2–3 years of commercial trucking insurance sales experience, with proven production results.
- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license required, or ability to obtain required licensing within an established period after hire.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding individual sales and production goals.
- Prior experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or supporting the development of sales professionals strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the commercial insurance sales process, including prospecting, quoting, presenting coverage, and closing business.
- Strong coaching and communication skills with the ability to set expectations and hold others accountable.
- Organized and comfortable balancing personal production responsibilities with leadership of a larger producer team.
- Experience working with CRM and agency management systems.
- Strong knowledge of carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and trucking industry dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate peers.
- Ambition to grow into a formal Sales Manager role.
