Job Description
At Innovate ABA, our Clinic Assistants are people who have a desire to learn about the implementation of Behavior Analytical procedures. Clinic Assistants complete our in-house Intro to ABA training to gain insight into the role of a behavior therapist as well as the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. This position is responsible for playing with and supervising children during transition times between shifts, and during rest and meal breaks for other staff. They are also tasked with assisting around the clinic, as needed and directed by the management team. Tasks may include prepping student meals, assisting in preparation of learning materials, sanitizing furniture and/or toys. Clinic Assistants may also be asked to accompany students on walks with other clinic staff or change diapers.
Requirements:Education, Training, and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, special education, or related field or are in the process of completing a Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience working with children and/or children with special needs is preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Developmental processes of children
- Interpersonal skills needed to manage crisis situations
- Technology, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Bilingual applicants strongly encouraged to apply
Skills and Abilities to:
- Play and have fun with children, ages 1 to 6 years old
- Assess situations and make proper judgments
- Understand behavioral situations and react accordingly in an ethical manner
- Objectively analyze crisis situations
- Respond quickly to emergency situations
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse group of clients, parents/caregivers, school personnel, and other agency staff
- Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines
- Follow guidance from senior level staff to enhance own professional development
- Work with a diverse team of professionals in a respectful manner
- Supervise clients during assigned times
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of fingerprinting and criminal history background check (reimbursable after 90 days of employment)
- Negative TB test
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
