The Bilingual Preschool Promise (PSP) Coach provides reflective, relationship-based coaching to early learning educators serving children in PSP programs, with a focus on supporting primarily our Spanish-speaking early learning educators. The coach responds to coaching requests and referrals, while proactively supporting PSP implementation and continuous quality improvement in PSP environments. This role delivers individualized coaching and technical assistance aligned with PSP expectations, policies, and procedures. The Bilingual PSP Coach also serves as a mentor to educators in family and center-based settings to strengthen instructional practices, meet program goals, and improve the quality of early care and education for children and families enrolled in Preschool Promise funded programs.

Columbia Gorge Community College serves a diverse region in north-central Oregon and south-central Washington. CGCC acknowledges we are on the homelands of the Confederated Tribe of the Yakama Nation and neighboring tribes as well as the 14 bands along the Inchi I’wana (Columbia River). Our main campus is within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in The Dalles, Oregon. We also have a beautiful site in the city of Hood River.

What you will do…
The Bilingual Infant & Toddler Coach duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reflective and Relationship-based Coaching to Preschool Promise Educators: The PSP Coach will build and maintain trusting relationships with early education programs and educators to create an environment that supports learning, reflection, technical assistance, and collaborative coaching. Responsibilities also include facilitating a Community of Practice for PSP educators, conducting regular observations using both formal and informal tools, and providing or coordinating professional development based on educators’ identified needs.
- Consultation to Support Preschool Promise Implementation: Aligned with the Oregon Early Learning Guidelines, NAEYC Professional Standards, and PSP Standards, the PSP Coach engages educators through consultations to promote continuous improvement in service quality through PSP implementation. The coach also helps educators build an understanding of Preschool Promise quality standards—including Supportive Environments, Ambitious Instruction, Leadership with Knowledge, and Inclusionary Practices—and provides support, resources, and recommendations to strengthen program services.
- Encouraging Developmentally Appropriate and Best Practices in Preschool Promise Programs: Through targeted coaching strategies and reflective one-on-one sessions to support goal setting, action planning, data review, and observations, the PSP Coach encourages educators on environmental changes, inclusion strategies, assessments, and resources to support best practices in early learning, developmentally appropriate practices, support dual language development, and social-emotional growth. The PSP Coach conducts regular observations using formal and informal tools, providing feedback to guide improvement. Serves as a resource for research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve outcomes for Preschool Promise children and families, while providing materials and recommendations to strengthen implementation and meet coaching goals aligned with Preschool Promise expectations.
- Continuous Professional Development in Coaching Practice: Participates in ongoing coaching with ELSI Mentor Coaches and the TRI Coaching Community of Practice while taking ownership of professional development to strengthen coaching, training, and technical assistance skills. Through collaboration with community partners and participation in local and statewide meetings, the coach supports and advocates for Preschool Promise programs, educators, and quality early learning initiatives.
What you bring….
- Knowledge of how children from birth to five (5) learn within the context of ongoing, meaningful relationships with important adults in their lives.
- A thorough understanding of the needs of preschool children, their families, and those who work with them.
- Knowledge of how programs engage families in partnerships.
- Strong knowledge of effective teaching practices.
- Two (2) years of experience providing technical assistance and training, including coaching, to early education programs, providing classroom observations and/or home visits to families with young children.
- Experience supporting the primacy of families, their home languages, cultures, and understanding of how to engage them.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices in preschool programs.
- Knowledge of how to best support the early learning workforce in all settings.
- Effective techniques of adult learning and relationship-based coaching practices.
- Knowledge of early learning quality assessment tools or willing to learn
- Knowledge of child assessment and screening tools or willing to learn
- Bilingual, Biliterate (English/Spanish) required
- Experience promoting equity-minded and diversely represented communications and materials, experience in responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
Minimum Requirements….
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Family Studies, or in a related field; or Oregon Registry Step 10, required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Oregon Registry Master Trainer, preferred or willing to work toward a Master Trainer Credential.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in an early childhood program with a focus on preschool-aged children.
