Technical Project Manager (Contract)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Project Manager (Contract) based in United States.

The Technical Project Manager will lead the successful delivery of complex technology initiatives in a fast-paced consulting environment.
This role focuses on establishing strong project governance, driving execution, and ensuring alignment between business and technical teams.
The position requires a strategic yet hands-on approach to managing scope, timelines, risks, and delivery outcomes.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to bring technology projects from planning through completion.
The ideal candidate will combine Agile expertise, strong communication skills, and technical understanding to deliver measurable business value.

Accountabilities:

The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for creating structure, accountability, and visibility across complex technology projects. This role will guide teams through planning, execution, governance, and delivery while ensuring projects remain aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Establish and manage project frameworks from initiation through completion, including scope definition, objectives, success metrics, governance models, and operating processes.
  • Create and maintain key project governance documentation, including project charters, RACI matrices, RAID logs, decision logs, and integrated project plans.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across business, technology, operations, and external partners to ensure effective collaboration and delivery.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical paths across multiple workstreams.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, while supporting effective delivery practices.
  • Drive accountability among stakeholders, ensuring ownership of deliverables, timelines, and project outcomes.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies with clear recommendations and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead governance meetings, executive reviews, and stakeholder discussions by preparing agendas, decisions, and action plans.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on delivery progress, business impact, risks, priorities, and required decisions.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned with budgets, roadmaps, strategic priorities, and expected value outcomes.
  • Support project closure activities, including operational handoff, knowledge transfer, post-launch planning, and lessons learned.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical project management experience, proven leadership abilities, and the capacity to manage complex initiatives in dynamic environments. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in Agile delivery, stakeholder management, and technology-driven project execution.

  • 5–6 years of hands-on experience managing technical projects, preferably within consulting, agency, or technology-focused environments.
  • Proven success delivering complex technology projects on time while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of technology concepts and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and technical teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, including experience leading Agile delivery teams.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to create and manage project governance materials, including project plans, RAID logs, RACI documents, and executive reports.
  • Experience tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) and critical success factors (CSFs).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with distributed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or other relevant project management certifications are preferred.
  • Experience in consulting, digital agencies, or fast-growing technology environments is a plus.
