Equipment Operator - Utility Veg. Management in Danville, Kentucky at ARBORWORKS LLC

The Equipment Operator - Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient, and compliant vegetation management operations within energized utility rights-of-way and other utility infrastructure corridors. This position is primarily responsible for operating specialized forestry and land-clearing equipment used to control, remove, and maintain vegetation that may impact electrical transmission and distribution systems, while protecting employees, the public, utility assets, and the environment.

This position directly contributes to operational productivity, regulatory compliance, and wildfire risk reduction by safely operating heavy equipment in complex environments that often include hazardous terrain, active utility infrastructure, environmentally sensitive areas, and changing field conditions. The Equipment Operator works closely with Forepersons, General Forepersons, Vegetation Management crews, and utility clients to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and client standards.

Required Training:

• Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Multiple equipment qualifications within utility vegetation management operations.
• Experience operating Jarraff trimmers, forestry mulchers, masticators, excavators, or similar right-of-way maintenance equipment.
• Utility transmission and distribution right-of-way maintenance experience.
• Utility line clearance tree trimming experience.
• ISA Certified Arborist credential.
• Utility Specialist certification or equivalent industry credential.
• Experience supporting wildfire mitigation and fuel reduction programs.
• Strong understanding of utility client standards and operating procedures.

• Primarily field-based position conducted in outdoor environments.
• Frequent work within utility rights-of-way, transmission corridors, distribution systems, substations, and remote access locations.
• Regular exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, and direct sunlight.
• Work may occur on steep slopes, uneven terrain, densely vegetated areas, and environmentally sensitive sites.
• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, wood debris, insects, wildlife, and mechanical hazards.
• Frequent operation of heavy equipment for extended periods.
• May require travel to project sites and temporary assignments within operational service areas.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, emergency response assignments, and storm restoration events as business needs require.
• Must be able to regularly climb, walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Requires visual acuity, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, and physical stamina necessary for safe equipment operation.
