Facility Mechanic in Corfu, New York at Yanceys Fancy Inc

The Facility Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing mechanical systems, facility equipment, and building components throughout the Yancey’s Fancy production facility.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with tools, diagnosing problems, making repairs, and learning new mechanical systems. The Facility Mechanic will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and production departments to minimize downtime and keep facility operations running smoothly.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues involving facility equipment and systems.
• Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments to production and facility equipment.
• Assist with diagnosing electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and other facility-related issues.
• Repair and maintain motors, pumps, conveyors, valves, bearings, belts, gearboxes, and other mechanical components.
• Assist with installation, removal, modification, and relocation of equipment.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and basic metalwork as needed.
• Repair doors, dock equipment, fixtures, piping, and other building components.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and mechanical problems throughout the facility.
• Perform preventative mechanical inspections and identify potential problems before equipment failure occurs.
• Use hand tools, power tools, lifts, ladders, and other mechanical equipment safely.
• Read basic equipment manuals, diagrams, and instructions.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize repairs and equipment needs.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and parts used.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, GMPs, food safety procedures, and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions.
• Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, lifts, and elevated platforms.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures throughout a food manufacturing facility.
• Ability to work around machinery, chemicals, water, and food-processing equipment.
• Ability to wear required PPE.

The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, dependable, hands-on, and a natural problem solver. We are looking for someone who can look at a piece of equipment, understand how it should work, identify what is wrong, and either make the repair or know when additional assistance is needed.

Previous experience is valuable, but mechanical aptitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or skilled-trade experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Comfortable working with hand tools and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, motors, pumps, bearings, belts, and equipment components.
• Welding, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or refrigeration experience is a plus.
• Ability to read basic mechanical diagrams, manuals, and instructions.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Willingness to learn and develop additional mechanical skills.
