Job Overview

Granite Excavation, Inc. is seeking an experienced Grade Operator / Foreman for civil construction projects throughout the Treasure Valley. This position may be filled at the Grade Operator or Foreman level, depending on experience. The Foreman leads the grade crew while also supporting grading operations and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Granite Excavation is a locally owned heavy civil construction company working on road construction, site preparation, excavation, building pads, drainage systems, access roads, underground utilities, and related projects.

Key Responsibilities

· Operate a motor grader to perform rough and finish grading.

· For Foreman assignments, lead the grade crew, assign daily work, and coordinate employees, equipment, materials, and jobsite needs.

· Review plans, elevations, schedules, construction drawings, and project specifications.

· Use GPS, lasers, stakes, and machine grade-control systems to maintain required elevations and slopes.

· Operate dozers, loaders, excavators, compactors, and other equipment as needed.

· Monitor grading quality, production, drainage, and compaction.

· Train crew members and provide clear work instructions.

· Communicate progress, issues, and project needs to supervisors.

· Conduct safety meetings, enforce company safety procedures, and complete daily equipment inspections.

· Coordinate with customers, inspectors, vendors, and subcontractors as needed.

Qualifications

· Previous motor grader experience in civil or road construction.

· Previous foreman, lead, or crew-supervision experience required for Foreman-level consideration.

· Knowledge of rough grading, finish grading, elevations, slopes, drainage, and compaction.

· Ability to read grading plans, construction drawings, stakes, and specifications.

· Experience with GPS, lasers, or machine grade-control systems.

· Ability to safely operate graders and other heavy equipment.

· Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

· First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain it.

· Ability to pass required pre-employment screening.

Physical and Work Environment

· Full-time, in-person position; expected hours may range from 40–70 per week.

· Must be able to enter and exit heavy equipment, climb, bend, kneel, and work on uneven terrain.

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.

· Work is outdoors in heat, cold, rain, dust, mud, and snow and around traffic, trenches, utilities, and moving equipment.

Position Details
