Position Overview
The Facilities and Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and strategic planning of facilities across campuses in IL and OH. This role ensures that all physical environments are safe, functional, compliant, and conducive to student life. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes and collaboration with all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily maintenance and repair activities across all facilities
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for facility services
- Manage facility budgets and control operational costs
- Respond promptly to facility-related emergencies and issues
- Oversee facility upgrades, renovations, and space planning
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and inspections
- Train and evaluate maintenance staff performance
- Ensure security systems and protocols are functioning properly
- Assume additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Associates required in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration
- 2 years min of facilities or operations management experience, preferably in higher education or multi-site environments.
- Proven experience managing multiple locations and teams.
Knowledge, Skills, & abilities
- Proven experience as a Facilities Supervisor or similar role
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment and relate well to others.
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance standards
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in facility management software and tools, Microsoft Windows
Physical Demands
- Frequent travel between campuses.
- Occasional evening or weekend work for emergencies or special projects.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during site inspections and project oversight.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when inspecting equipment or facilities.
- Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25–50 pounds.
- Visual acuity to review plans, inspect facilities, and identify safety hazards.
- Tolerance for exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures typical of maintenance and construction environments.
