Job Description

Principal Product Designer, Devices

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Product Designer, Devices in Canada.

In this role, you will shape the end-to-end experience of connected hardware products that bridge physical devices and digital platforms used by millions of people globally.
You will define and evolve the design vision for a growing ecosystem of consumer devices, including GPS trackers and IoT-enabled products, ensuring seamless interaction across app, web, and hardware touchpoints.
Your work will directly influence how users experience critical moments such as onboarding, setup, tracking, and ongoing device usage in everyday life.
You will operate in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, working closely with product, engineering, hardware, and research teams.
The role combines strategic product thinking with hands-on execution, including prototyping, journey mapping, and interaction design at scale.
This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of connected family safety experiences through thoughtful, systems-driven design leadership.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end product design for connected device experiences, including GPS trackers, pet devices, and emerging hardware products across mobile, web, and physical touchpoints.
  • Define user journeys across device lifecycle moments such as unboxing, onboarding, setup, daily usage, troubleshooting, and re-engagement.
  • Design scalable interaction models and UX frameworks that unify experiences across hardware and digital platforms.
  • Rapidly prototype and test early-stage concepts using modern design and AI-enabled tools to validate new product ideas.
  • Translate user insights and product strategy into clear, intuitive, and elegant design solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, hardware, research, and brand teams to influence product direction and execution.
  • Present design concepts, narratives, and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Mentor and guide other designers, contributing to a strong culture of craft, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Contribute to the evolution of design systems and patterns across the connected devices ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in product design for consumer-facing digital products, ideally including IoT or hardware-connected ecosystems.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX/UI design across complex, multi-platform or hardware-software experiences.
  • Deep understanding of how physical product constraints influence digital experience design.
  • Experience designing across full device lifecycle journeys, including onboarding, setup, usage, and support flows.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to create scalable design frameworks across products and platforms.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative design approaches, with comfort in early-stage product exploration.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced design workflows and emerging technology-driven user experiences.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to influence cross-functional and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating in highly cross-functional environments involving product, engineering, and hardware teams.
  • Bonus: experience with design partner programs, beta hardware testing, or IoT consumer products.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation package including base salary aligned with senior design leadership roles in Canada.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance fully or partially covered depending on plan.
  • Equity participation as part of the overall compensation package.
  • Flexible paid time off, company-wide holidays, and scheduled shutdown periods.
  • Fully remote-first work environment with global collaboration opportunities.
  • Professional development programs and learning budgets to support continuous growth.
  • Wellness support including mental health programs and employee assistance resources.
  • Home office setup support, equipment, and productivity reimbursements.
  • Access to company products and services for personal and family use.
