Chief Nursing Officer-Texas Health Plano

Since 1991, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has served the communities of Plano, Frisco, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and McKinney. As a 386-bed, full-service hospital, we're proud to deliver exceptional care to North Texans through advanced technology and a dedicated team.
We offer a range of specialties, including emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine care, orthopedics, women's services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, and critical care. Our hospital also provides comprehensive surgical services supported by leading technology and clinical expertise.
As we look to the future, a new patient tower under construction and major campus renovations underway will deliver even greater access to advanced care in neuroscience, heart and vascular services, digestive health, and an expanded Emergency Department.
Texas Health Plano is a Level II Trauma Facility and the only health care provider in Collin County with Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal Facility designations. We are also a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and Primary Heart Attack Center accredited by The Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement.
We're proud to be a four-time Magnet-designated hospital and home to the DFW area's only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit. Our team members enjoy outstanding benefits, including an on-site childcare center designed to support working parents
Job Summary
In collaboration with the President and CMO of the hospital, the CNO develops, approves, and oversees the implementation of policies, procedures, standards of care and practice that provide direction for the delivery of patient care. The CNO will direct activities that support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements; create processes that support dissemination of data and information to leadership team and staff; Collects comprehensive data pertinent to issues, situations and trends. The officer will identify expected outcomes for issues, staffing, practice and documents expected outcomes as measurable goals; consider factors related to safety, reliability effectiveness, impact on practice, cost, and resources in delivery of nursing care. The CNO will provide leadership in professional practice setting as a team builder, team player and lead with flexibility through times of challenge. The CNO will serve in key roles regarding nursing practice, represent nursing to medical-executive team, board of trustees, executive leadership and others as well as assume accountability for overall management of nursing practice, nursing education, professional development, nursing research, nursing administration and nursing services wherever delivered in the organization.
The Chief Nursing Officer has the following duties and responsibilities:
Balanced direction and alignment with the High Reliability channel at the system level.
Culture creation through push, pull, education and participation.
Situational Leadership from an eclectic perspective.
Interprofessional teams formation and implementation.
Challenge decisions in a non-challenging way.
Utilize Reward & Recognition in a creative way that supports not only nursing but also interprofessional team building.
Balance needs of patients and organization.
Collaborative leadership.
Seasoned judgment.
Knowledge of HR.
Communicating and knowing potential situations may result (down-stream impact).
Visibility (knowing where you need to be with the end in mind).
Create and develop a collaborative environment with physicians.
Spotting talent - great discernment abilities.
Rounding with intent of listening, hearing and responding.
Organize and lead a results oriented meeting in a concise manner.
Exceptional presentation skills.
Ability to convert strategies into actionable tactics leading to desired outcomes.
Qualifications
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to build THR's culture for action.
Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's Degree Nursing (BSN) and Master's Degree Nursing (MSN) required. Or, Master's Degree related field required.
• 3 years minimum 3-5 years senior level experience overseeing hospital wide nursing services with an emphasis on Magnet or Pathways to Excellence implementation. Or, 5+ years experience, at director level or above, managing multiple units or clinical disciplines with budget and productivity responsibilities required
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse Texas RN License required upon hire
Certified in Nursing Administration preferred upon hire
Skills
Knowledge of nursing management, quality improvement, financial analysis, process & planning, strategic planning principles, nursing standards of care and practice, ethical principles and nursing and healthcare trends.
