Overview
The National Account Manager is responsible for leading and managing a large, multi-state portfolio of subcontracted janitorial operations, overseeing approximately 100 client locations across ~10 states. This role ensures consistent service delivery, strong subcontractor performance, and exceptional client satisfaction across all assigned sites.
This position serves as the primary strategic and operational contact for national clients and is accountable for service quality, compliance, financial performance, and vendor/subcontractor management across the portfolio.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Manage a national portfolio of approximately 100 subcontracted janitorial service locations across multiple states
- Serve as the primary client liaison for all operational, service, and strategic matters
- Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with SLAs, scope of work, and quality standards
- Drive accountability across all subcontracted teams for service delivery, staffing, and performance outcomes
- Conduct regular client business reviews to evaluate KPIs, service performance, and improvement initiatives
- Monitor service delivery across all locations, identifying risks, trends, and corrective actions
- Partner closely with subcontractors to ensure staffing levels, training, and execution meet client expectations
- Escalate and resolve service issues quickly, coordinating corrective action plans as needed
- Support labor planning and coordination with subcontractors to ensure adequate coverage across all sites
- Manage financial performance of assigned accounts, including cost control and budget adherence
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies across all subcontracted operations
- Lead process standardization and service improvement initiatives across all locations
- Collaborate with internal teams on onboarding, performance management, and vendor governance
- Provide executive-level reporting on portfolio performance, subcontractor compliance, and operational risks
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10+ years of experience in facilities services, janitorial operations, or national account management
- Strong experience managing subcontracted service delivery models
- Proven success managing large, multi-state or national portfolios (100+ locations preferred)
- Strong multi-state operational experience managing distributed teams and service delivery across regions
- Deep understanding of janitorial operations, staffing models, and service execution standards
- Experience managing SLAs, KPIs, and performance-based service contracts
- Strong subcontractor/vendor management experience with accountability for performance outcomes
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cost controls
- Ability to lead through influence across distributed teams and external partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Requirements
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing subcontracted or vendor-managed service networks
- Experience with union or non-union labor environments
- Strong escalation management and operational troubleshooting skills
- Experience supporting national or enterprise-level accounts
Physical Requirements
