Position Summary:
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer is responsible for supporting instrumentation and controls design activities for EPC and industrial projects. This role includes development of wiring and loop diagrams, Smart P&IDs, instrument installation details, control panel layouts, and control system design documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop wiring and loop diagrams
- Prepare standard and Smart P&IDs
- Create instrument installation details and instrument location plans
- Support control panel and junction box sizing and layout
- Perform design calculations including:
- Wire sizing
- Conduit fill
- Voltage drop
- Support control system design and networking documentation
- Develop control system I/O design documentation
- Utilize SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) databases for:
- Instrument index loading
- Instrument datasheet creation
- Wiring information development
- Report and loop generation
- Perform instrument material take-offs (MTOs)
- Develop and maintain CAD drawings and models related to instrumentation and controls systems
Requirements:
- US Citizenship Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards
- Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
