Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician — Dallas, TX in Houston, Texas at Modern Mechanical Services

Job Summary

Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician (Non-Exempt). You'll run preventive maintenance and service calls on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding areas. Day to day means diagnosing and repairing equipment in the field, completing PM tasks on schedule, and keeping clients up and running. This is a hands-on field role. No management responsibilities, just solid work on real equipment with the support to do it right.

You should be comfortable working on both HVAC and refrigeration, reading equipment specs, and communicating clearly with customers about what you found and what you fixed.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Run preventive maintenance and service calls on commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Diagnose equipment issues through observation, testing, and proper startup procedures
• Disassemble and reassemble HVAC/R equipment to troubleshoot and perform repairs
• Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to service mechanical systems
• Complete electronic documentation of service tasks, materials used, and labor hours
• Explain work performed and service charges to customers clearly and professionally
• Maintain inventory stock on your service vehicle
• Reconcile work orders, vendor packing slips, and weekly timesheets

Education and Experience

• 2 to 5 years of commercial HVAC/R experience
• Working knowledge of both HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Universal EPA Certification
• TDLR registration (registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation)
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to read and interpret equipment specs and basic plans
• Ability to pass drug screening and background check

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and kneeling; lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to access and inspect all areas of a jobsite in all weather, indoors and outdoors, which may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, and crawling
• Vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
