About This Position
About the Role:
The Machinist plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining precision machine tools to produce high-quality components according to detailed specifications. This position requires interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings to set up and adjust CNC machines and manual lathes, ensuring parts meet exact tolerances. The Machinist is responsible for performing precision measuring and inspection throughout the machining process to guarantee product accuracy and consistency. Collaboration with engineering and quality teams is essential to troubleshoot issues and optimize machining processes. Ultimately, the Machinist contributes to the efficient production of reliable, precision-engineered parts that meet customer and industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating CNC machines and manual lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in precision measuring techniques and use of measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of machine shop safety protocols and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited machinist apprenticeship or technical training program.
- Experience with tool and die making.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
- Certification from a recognized machining or manufacturing organization.
- Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines and manual lathes to manufacture precision parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Perform precision measuring and inspection using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Adjust machine settings and tooling to maintain product accuracy and resolve machining issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to improve machining processes and product quality.
- Document production activities and maintain accurate records of machine maintenance and part specifications.
Skills:
The required skills such as CNC machine operation, precision measuring, and blueprint reading are essential for accurately producing parts that meet strict specifications. Daily work involves setting up and adjusting machine tools, which demands a deep understanding of machining principles and tool handling.
