The work still has to be right — and the people who do it know that the results speak for themselves.As a Machinist II – Second Shift, you’ll set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and NC machines to produce quality parts that meet print and hold tolerance. You’ll be trusted to run jobs correctly, catch issues early, and keep production moving with confidence.If you like working with autonomy, pride, and ownership — this shift fits.What You’ll DoYou’ll be relied on to keep machines, parts, and quality on track.Set up and operate machines using blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample partsInterpret dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences accuratelyMeasure, mark, and prepare materials for machiningSelect and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materialsCalculate and adjust speeds, feeds, coolant flow, and depth of cutLoad, retrieve, and make edits to CNC programs as neededMonitor machines during operation and intervene before issues turn into scrapAdjust offsets and tooling to maintain tolerance and part qualityInspect finished parts to verify print and quality requirementsRun and evaluate trial parts to confirm setup and program accuracyTroubleshoot machining and program issues directly at the machineVerify and adjust common G and M codesOperate higher-complexity machines with confidence and careCommunicate effectively with engineers, programmers, and teammates across shiftsSupport continuous improvement efforts, including Lean practices, PMs, 5S, and KaizenUnderstand how second-shift performance impacts overall production goalsWork safely, ethically, and with respect for workmanship standardsPerform other duties as needed to support the teamWhat You BringYou’re experienced, dependable, and steady.High School diploma or GED with at least two years of machining experience, or equivalent hands-on backgroundDemonstrated readiness to operate at the Machinist II levelStrong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and CNC operationsAbility to work independently and make sound decisions on the floorSolid math skills, including fractions, decimals, and standard units of measureCommitment to safety, quality, and doing the job right — even when no one’s watchingWork EnvironmentThis is hands-on manufacturing work.Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noiseOccasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and non-weather-related heatRisk of electrical shock in certain areasReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functionsPhysical RequirementsRegularly lift and/or move up to 50 poundsStand, walk, and move throughout the shiftUse hands for tools, materials, and machine controlsVision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustmentAbility to communicate and hear clearly in a manufacturing environment
