About the Role:
The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation within the organization, including international payroll through PEO. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, including calculating wages, deductions, and tax withholdings in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Specialist collaborates closely with HR and finance teams to maintain payroll records, resolve discrepancies, and support audits. By leveraging payroll systems and software, the specialist ensures data integrity and confidentiality while delivering exceptional service to employees. Ultimately, this role contributes to the financial health and regulatory compliance of the company by maintaining precise payroll operations.
Responsibilities:
- Process and execute payroll for all US employees accurately including foreign payroll (UK/Canada/Asia) through the associated PEO and on schedule using payroll software, ADP.
- Process payroll for equity releases.
- Review timecard entries/discrepancies
- Calculate termination checks according to state law regulations.
- Calculate and confirm remittance of payroll taxes through the system, including federal, state, and local tax withholdings, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, benefits deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related information.
- Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to resolve payroll discrepancies, answer employee inquiries, and support internal and external audits.
- Generate payroll reports and summaries for management review and assist in year-end processes such as W-2 and 1099 preparation.
- Assist with data and report gathering for monthly and quarterly audits.
- Audit PTO usage
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience processing payroll in a corporate environment and auditing payroll, experience in a Publicly Traded company a plus .
- Proficiency with payroll systems and software, specifically ADP.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements across multiple states.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation.
- Experience working with multi-state payroll and complex payroll scenarios.
- Familiarity with additional payroll software platforms and HRIS systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.

Expertise in payroll processes and systems like ADP enables efficient and error-free payroll execution. Proficiency with payroll software supports the management of employee payroll accounts, deductions, and benefits, ensuring data integrity. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for resolving discrepancies and collaborating with HR and finance teams. Additionally, attention to detail and confidentiality are critical in handling sensitive payroll information and maintaining trust within the organization.
California:
The US base compensation range for this part-time position is $25/hr. - $30/hr. + target annual bonus.
Our compensation ranges are determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to the role, location, job-related skills, relevant education, experience and training.
The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target range for new hire base compensation for the position across all US locations and varies by the location of the position.
