Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer ServiceGreet customers with genuine enthusiasm, take orders accurately, and offer menu suggestions to enhance their experience.Prepare and serve a variety of handcrafted beverages, including espresso, coffee, teas, and blended drinks, adhering to all food & beverage standards.Handle cash and credit card transactions efficiently, following proper cash-handling procedures.Resolve customer concerns promptly with a positive demeanor to exceed expectations.Use mobile tablets for drive-thru orders during adverse weather or high-volume periods.Store OperationsMaintain a clean, safe, and inviting workspace by sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces in compliance with health and safety standards.Stock supplies and products as needed, ensuring adequate inventory levels.Open and close the store independently, following established procedures for security and readiness.Support promotional activities, such as upselling new menu items or participating in store merchandising.Team SupportRally with your team to keep the store humming, sharing updates on inventory, shift trade, and operational needs with clear, upbeat communication.Mentor new baristas with enthusiasm, guiding them through crafting drinks, delivering top-notch service, and embracing CMC’s protocols.Build a fun, supportive team spirit by uplifting peers during busy rushes with positivity and teamwork.Live CMC’s values of honesty and integrity, creating a trusting, dynamic team environment.Stay flexible, reliable, and punctual, thriving under pressure to keep the team’s energy high.Spark innovation by sharing bold ideas and constructive feedback to elevate team performance.Embrace change with a can-do attitude, adapting swiftly to keep the team’s momentum strong.Compliance and SafetyObtain and maintain a current Food Handler Permit.Adhere to all federal, state, and local health, safety, and food handling regulations.Report hazards and maintain awareness of State Health and Food Safety standards.Required Qualifications and SkillsStrong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage positively with diverse customers and team membersProven ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptionsDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and/or shift-supervisory experience preferredPrevious barista, food service, or related experience strongly preferred (comprehensive training provided)Basic math skills for cash handling and beverage measurementsProficiency in English; additional languages a plusFlexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysMinimum age of 16Valid Food Handler Permit (or willingness to obtain upon hire)Ability to pass a criminal background check if requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredValid driver’s license or evidence of mobility preferred for multi-location flexibility; note that a driver’s license is only required if driving is an essential job function for this position or tied to a legitimate business need. Compensation and BenefitsHourly Wage Range: $10.85 - $15.85.Benefits: Medical, vision, dental, prescription, and pharmacy benefits and 401K option, each available after meeting qualifying plan standards and requirements.Paid Time Off (PTO-MT):Fixed annual allotment: 40 hours (5 days per year)Eligibility after 1 year of employmentGranted as a fixed annual allotment on January 1 Does not accrue or carry overForfeited if unused by December 31No payout of unused PTO upon separation Additional Perks: Tip pooling, employee discounts, shift drink, and ongoing training for coffee education and career growth. Evaluation and Performance ReviewBaristas are generally evaluated within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter, based on customer satisfaction, adherence to standards, and team contributions. ClassificationShift Type: Variable Hour, Non-exempt. Location: Varies across multiple locations; flexibility for shift transfers encouraged.Employment Status: Employment is at-will during the initial twelve (12) month probationary period. After successful completion of the probationary period, continued employment is governed by the Montana Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act (Mont. Code Ann. § 39-2-901 et seq.), which requires good cause for termination. Copper Mountain Coffee reserves the right to terminate employment during the probationary period with or without cause or notice. After probation, termination will only occur for good cause, except where prohibited by law. By signing below, I acknowledge that my employment with Copper Mountain Coffee is at-will during the initial twelve (12) month probationary period (excluding any periods taken by me as a leave of absence), and that Copper Mountain Coffee may extend my probationary period prior to its expiration for up to a total of 18 months. After probation, termination requires good cause under the Montana Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act (Mont. Code Ann. § 39-2-901 et seq.). which includes (but is not limited to) discharge for any of the reasons discussed in the Copper Mountain Coffee Handbook.
