WHAT THE JOB LOOKS LIKE:
In this Material Handling and Equipment Manager role, you are responsible for ensuring that material handling equipment performs safely, efficiently, and consistently throughout its entire lifecycle. You proactively design and refine maintenance strategies, monitor reliability metrics, and step in with solutions when performance falls short. You set the standard for safety and compliance by leading audits, addressing findings, and working alongside Safety teams to strengthen training and best practices. As the technical authority, you guide equipment purchasing decisions, oversee installations, and support automation and expansion projects from planning through execution. Your work connects across teams, as you collaborate with Operations to improve flow and throughput, manage vendor performance, develop technical talent, escalate and resolve critical issues, keep leadership informed, and travel as needed to support sites or partners.

Who Should Apply:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience managing material handling equipment in manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments
- Experience managing capital projects and equipment vendors
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
- Familiarity with CMMS/EAM systems for maintenance tracking
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
- Effective communication skills
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to interpret equipment schematics, layouts, and technical documentation
- Ability to work across operations, engineering, and leadership teams
- Ability to spend time in operational environments (warehouse or plant floor)
- Ability to respond to off-hours equipment issues
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with automated and/or semi-automated MHE systems is preferred
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems
- Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM certification
- OSHA certification or strong safety leadership experience
