BI Solutions Developer
The BI Solutions Developer plays a key role in advancing Westcliff University's data-informed decision-making by
designing, developing, and managing business intelligence solutions that support operational effectiveness and
strategic priorities across the institution. This position is responsible for building and maintaining scalable BI reports,
dashboards, and data models that enable stakeholders to derive meaningful insights from complex data. The role
partners closely with university units to gather and translate business requirements into reliable analytical outputs,
while upholding the highest standards of data integrity and quality. This position is part of the Business Intelligence
department and is best suited for a mid-level professional who brings technical proficiency, strong analytical judgment,
and the ability to perform consistently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
1. BI Solution Design & Development (40%)
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights aligned with university business needs.
- Author efficient, well-structured SQL queries to support data extraction, transformation, and analytical workflows across institutional data sources.
- Build and manage scalable data pipelines and workspaces within Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflows and Pipelines, to ensure reliable and timely data delivery.
2. Stakeholder Partnership & Requirements Translation (35%)
- Serve as a technical partner to university units and stakeholders, leading requirements-gathering processes and translating business needs into scalable, fit-for-purpose BI solutions.
- Continuously refine and improve existing reports and data models based on stakeholder feedback, evolving business priorities, and emerging data needs.
- Support the integration of data from internal and external sources through API connectors and data ingestion pipelines, expanding the scope and reliability of institutional data assets.
3. Data Integrity & Governance (25%)
- Lead data validation efforts across BI outputs, proactively identifying, investigating, and resolving data quality issues before they reach end users or inform decision-making.
- Contribute to and maintain documentation for data definitions, business logic, and report usage to ensure transparency, consistency, and knowledge continuity across the department.
- Handles other projects and tasks as needed
Job Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
- 2–3 years of experience in a BI, data analyst, or similar role
- Power BI — proficient in building reports and data models (DAX, Power Query)
- SQL — comfortable writing complex queries; understands data structures and relational databases
- Microsoft Fabric — hands-on experience or solid working knowledge (or equivalent experience and knowledge and data pipelines and semantic models)
- Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end BI solutions
- Exposure to working with business stakeholders and translating requirements into data outputs
- Detail-oriented, self-learner, time management, adaptable
- Python — preferred; used for scripting, automation, or data wrangling
- API Integration — preferred; experience consuming REST APIs or integrating third-party data sources
