Job Summary: 

The Individual Giving Manager plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Alternatives for Girls by building meaningful relationships with individual donors who are passionate about supporting girls and young women experiencing homelessness and instability. This role leads strategies to grow and sustain individual giving, with a focus on deepening donor engagement, increasing retention, and expanding mid-level and major gifts.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and relational—someone who finds joy in connecting people to purpose and telling the powerful stories of the girls and young women we serve.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Donor Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, with an emphasis on mid-level,major gift, and plannedgivingdonors
  • Develop and implement personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Build authentic, trust-based relationships through meetings, calls, events, and ongoing communication

Individual Giving Strategy

  • Lead the planning and execution of annual giving efforts, including direct mail, email, and digital campaigns
  • Partner with the communications team to create compelling, mission-driven donor messaging and appeals
  • Support giving days, peer-to-peer campaigns, and special fundraising initiatives

Donor Experience & Stewardship

  • Design and implement thoughtful stewardship strategies that celebrate andretaindonors
  • Ensuretimely, personalized acknowledgment and recognition of gifts
  • Create meaningful opportunities for donors to connect with AFG’s mission and impact

Data, Insights & Performance

  • Track progress toward revenue goals and key metrics including donor retention, acquisition, and upgrades
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage donor data and inform strategy
  • Prepare reports and insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement

Collaboration & Culture

  • Partner closely with program staff to elevate client stories and impact
  • Collaborate with leadership and board members to support individual giving efforts
  • Contribute to a culture of philanthropy across the organization

Demonstrated Abilities: 

  • 3–5+ years of fundraising, development, or related experience (individual giving preferred)
  • Demonstrated success closing major gifts $5,000+
  • Demonstrated success building and managing donor relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to tell compelling stories
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce)
  • Highly organized, proactive, and mission-driven

Preferred Qualifications

  • CertifiedFundRaisingExecutive (CFRE preferred)
  • Experience working in a human services or youth-serving nonprofit
  • Familiarity with moves management and donor lifecycle strategies
  • Experience with digital fundraising platforms and campaigns
