About This Position

The Democratic Attorneys General Association provides political and policy support to Democratic State Attorneys General in their mission to protect citizens, promote progress, and support civil rights.

Job Title: Deputy Research Director

Reports To: Research Director

Salary: $115,000-$120,000

Job Summary:

The Deputy Research Director provides critical support to the DAGA research team and works directly with the Research Director on overseeing the committee’s opposition research efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Overseeing, developing, and editing long-term research projects and investigative materials in partnership with the Research Director.

•Planning and executing investigative research plans, including specific targeting of public records requests or archival research.

• Spearheading the training, long-term management, and development of the Research Associates in partnership with the Research Director.

• Assisting the Communications and Digital departments in the creation and vetting of public facing press, fundraising, and social media assets.

•Helping the Research Director identify departmental priorities, operations and scheduling, and completing other assignments and tasks as needed within the Research Department.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a Research Director on a competitive statewide campaign strongly preferred. Experience in senior-level research management at a political committee or national political campaign will also be considered.

• Management experience as part of a research department or team, including project planning, document editing, and creative goal setting.

• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information with stakeholders.

• Proficient in LexisNexis and other research tools and software.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Proven ability to perform well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines and objectives.

•Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and operate effectively in a fluid and fast-paced environment.

• Sense of humor and positive attitude.

•Commitment to DAGA’s mission.

Additional Information:

• DAGA’s office is open 9 AM – 6 PM Eastern, but extended and nontraditional work hours are required.

• DAGA offices are in downtown DC.

• DAGA will work with potential candidates to schedule remote interviews and process onboarding procedures remotely, as necessary.
