Summary of position-
The Inspection / Tech Services Lead is responsible for the oversight and integrity of the company's inspection, quality control, and engineering programs in accordance with FAA regulatory requirements and the certificate holder's Operations Specifications. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, this position provides technical expertise across inspection systems, airworthiness compliance, and engineering processes, and holds direct authority to establish and modify the policies, procedures, and instructions governing those areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities-
The Inspection / Tech Services Lead’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Safety & Quality Oversight
- Recognize and promote statutory and regulatory requirements to maintain the highest degree of aviation safety standards and safe practices.
- Provide technical expertise to the DOM in the areas of quality control and inspection.
- Follow up on corrective actions for deficiencies within the maintenance and other departments.
- Interface with internal departments, manufacturers, and vendors on QC-related matters.
- Provide quality and inspection oversight of the approved maintenance program, Corrosion Prevention and Control Program (CPCP), and Emergency Evacuation System (EES) sampling program.
Inspection Programs
- Develop and oversee the Continuous Airworthiness Surveillance System (CASS).
- Develop and oversee the RII program, including appointment of RII personnel, RII training, and RII lists for aircraft.
- Develop and oversee the inspection schedule for the aircraft.
- Develop and oversee the AD management program, including development of specific tasks to meet AD requirements.
- Oversee major repairs and alterations and the special flight permit process.
- Assess individual repairs for the aging aircraft inspection and records review program.
- Ensure proper documentation and disposition of damage identification and dent reporting.
Engineering & Technical Programs
- Provide leadership, direction, and coordination of Maintenance Program and Engineering efforts.
- Oversee powerplant, avionics, structures, and systems engineering, as well as technical publications, maintenance programs, automation, reliability, and operations performance programs.
- Establish and/or modify policies, processes, procedures, and instructions governing:
- Engineering major/minor repair and alteration processes
- Engineering documents
- Flexible hose interim repair processes
- Metallic (high-speed) tape processes
- Damage identification and dent reporting processes
- Review and approve parts and services specifications for the procurement process.
- Develop procedures for design data and retention of supporting documentation for owner/operator-produced parts.
- Ensure the quality of the loadable software process and procedures and adherence to current regulatory and EAG requirements.
- Act as liaison with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) on engineering matters.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities-
Must possess and maintain a full understanding of:
- Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
- The certificate holder’s Operations Specifications (OpSpecs).
- Applicable 14 CFR Chapter 1 regulations, including Parts 1, 5, 21, 25, 39, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, 120, and 121.
- Manuals for flight, ground operations, and management personnel required under §121.133.
Skills & Training
- Qualified as an auditor or evaluator; able to plan, organize, direct, control, and modify NPA evaluation, inspection, and quality control processes.
- Good communication and writing skills.
- Successfully completed all courses outlined in the EAG Maintenance Training Manual (MTM).
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, TRAX, and other programs utilized.
Education & Experience-
Certificates & Experience
- Hold a mechanic certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings, held for at least three (3) years.
- At least three (3) years of maintenance experience on different types of large aircraft (10+ passenger seats) with an air carrier or certificated repair station, including at least one (1) year as a Maintenance Inspector.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience maintaining the same category and class of aircraft as the certificate holder operates.
- Experience on Boeing Aircraft, preferably 757 series.
Schedule & Travel-
- Schedule will be determined based on the needs of the organization and aircraft flight schedule.
- On Call shifts will be required to support the fleet when away from base.
- Must be available days, night, weekends and holidays for last minute travel to support AOG situations while the aircraft is away from base.
