Suffolk is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling more than 22,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts Center in Riverhead. Established in 1959, the College offers a wide array of transfer-oriented associate degrees in the liberal arts and sciences; business; communications and the arts; computing and cybersecurity; health sciences; and many other areas. Career-facing degrees and certificates are offered in allied health professions, automotive technology, culinary and baking, manufacturing, and many other areas. The college provides high school concurrent enrollment opportunities to thousands of students each year through both the Suffolk Beacon program and through on-campus early college classes. Designated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Hispanic Serving Institution, Suffolk enrolls thousands of students in English Language Learning courses and serves more veterans and military-connected students than any other college in the SUNY system.

We are currently seeking a collaborative and resourceful Talent Acquisition Coordinator to support the recruitment efforts across academic and administrative areas of the College. This role supports and coordinates full-cycle recruitment while partnering closely with hiring managers, search committees, and appropriate College offices to attract, evaluate, and hire diverse, high-quality candidates.

The Coordinator will play a central role in shaping the candidate experience, strengthening recruitment processes, and ensuring alignment with institutional goal and search committee guidelines.

Reporting to the Vice President for HR, this position must be customer service focused with excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitates and implements all phases of the full-cycle recruitment process.
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop recruitment strategies, timelines, and search plans aligned with departmental and institutional needs.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop and refine job descriptions, qualifications, and evaluation criteria.
  • Draft and post job announcements in the applicant tracking system and external platforms.
  • Serve as a resource to search committees, providing guidance on recruitment best practices, interview structure, and compliance considerations.
  • Review applications to assess qualifications and support candidate screening processes.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communications, and selection processes.
  • In collaboration with the office of Equal Opportunity to support compliance with institutional hiring policies.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment data and documentation within the applicant tracking system (e.g., NeoEd).
  • In collaboration with the Office of Equal Opportunity to support diversity outreach and sourcing initiatives to build inclusive candidate pipelines.
  • Assist with onboarding coordination and pre-employment processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of recruitment workflows and HR initiatives.
  • Participate in recruitment events, including job fairs and outreach activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or human resources.
  • Strong understanding of recruitment processes and employment practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple searches simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience using NeoEd or an applicant tracking system.
  • Familiarity with structured or committee-based hiring processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in higher education or public sector environments.
