About the Role
PJP Marketplace is hiring a Grocery Store Manager to lead one of our Philadelphia stores. You’ll own overall store performance, including sales, margin, labor, compliance, and customer experience. This is a hands-on retail leadership role for someone who builds strong teams through coaching and accountability and runs a clean, well-stocked, safe store.

What You’ll Do

Lead the store. Set store goals and priorities aligned with company strategy, track results, and take action to improve sales, margin, service, and execution.

Run daily operations. Oversee all departments, including front end and floor, so the store is ready, staffed, and running smoothly every shift.

Build and coach your team. Hire, onboard, train, schedule, and evaluate team members. Handle performance management, including corrective action and terminations, in partnership with our Director of People & Marketing.

Manage labor and expenses. Make staffing decisions within labor plans, control store expenses, and support accurate payroll and reporting.

Keep the store compliant and safe. Enforce company policies, legal requirements, safe work practices, and food safety standards. Oversee cash handling, including tills, safe counts, pickups, deposits, and reconciliation.

Own inventory and merchandising. Place vendor orders on time and within inventory guidelines. Make sure stocking, merchandising, pricing, and ad changes are carried out consistently across departments.

Deliver a great customer experience. Maintain high standards for cleanliness, freshness, presentation, and in-stock conditions, and resolve escalated customer issues.

Communicate with leadership. Share store performance, operational needs, and risks with corporate leadership.

What You Bring

4+ years of retail management experience. Grocery experience is preferred but not required.
Experience leading and developing managers and hourly teams across multiple departments and shifts.
Strong working knowledge of customer service, safety, cash control, labor scheduling, and inventory management.
No food safety certification needed to apply. We provide ServSafe training.

Schedule
Full-time, with a schedule that varies based on business needs, including weekends, holidays, and peak periods.

Physical Requirements
This role works throughout the sales floor and backroom. It requires frequent standing and walking, regular bending, reaching, and crouching, and pushing or pulling carts and wheeled equipment. You’ll handle and reposition product as needed and may work in cooler and freezer areas.
