Job Summary

The role of the Fitness Instructor is to monitor the fitness floor, providing professional instruction in assisting members. Assists members with exercise technique, offers encouragement, reinforces exercise behavior and safety, and answers all questions with a high standard of customer service. The Fitness Instructor also assists the front desk staff in managing front desk operations, including signing up new members, taking payments, laundry duties, and answering the phone in a professional manner. In addition, the fitness instructor assists in performing workout orientations for new members and give tours to prospective members in a positive, energetic manner.

Qualifications

Education

• Required
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science OR Kinesiology

Experience:

• Preferred
  • One year of experience in the Health/Fitness Industry

Certification/Licensure:

Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Must obtain within six (6) weeks of start date
• Personal Training Certification
  • Must obtain within eight (8) weeks of start date
  • Personal Training Certification accepted through one of the following organizations: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or NSCA, NASM, NPTA, ISSA, NESTA, SCW, or any organization that offers an accredited personal training certification.
