About This Position
Position Summary
-
Responsible for planning, organizing and facilitating the radiological procedures in assigned area. Ensures radiological services provided to patients meet Med Center Health standards. Performs a variety of radiological procedures following established guidelines. Responsible for patient safety protocols for assigned area.

Work Experience
-
Two years of experience as a Radiology Technologist required for full time Team Leaders only.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Education
-
Completion of Radiologic Technology program required.
Certifications/Licensure
-
Certification by the State of Kentucky required.
Registration with the ARRT required. If certified by the State of Kentucky prior to 1978 candidates are considered grandfathered into the profession and registration with the ARRT is not required.

Oversees and provides direction to staff members related to completion of work, work schedules, and work assignments within established policies and procedures of Med Center Health.
Provides leadership in problem identification and resolution, and coordinates resolutions in collaboration with department leader.

Assists with hiring, training, development, and retention of employees who have the appropriate level of job knowledge, skill and overall fit to the department and to the organization.
Communicates job performance expectations and provides performance feedback that facilitates development.
Provides input in the completion of and the delivery of employee performance evaluations and actively addresses employee performance concerns through conflict-resolution.

Provides input in the development and management of the department budget.
Assists department leader with analyzing costs, developing programs to assure compliance with budgetary constraints and providing justifications for budget variances.

Maintains a good working relationship with facility staff and physicians. Acts as departmental liaison to ensure efficiency with other hospital departments. Addresses shift problems with nursing services and physicians as they occur.
Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. Instructs and prepares patients for procedure. Applies proper shielding and collimating for patient protection according to established guidelines.
Coordinates the transport of patients to and from the floor.
Ascertains an adequate history and diagnosis is given or exam ordered according to established indicators.
Responsible for safe handling of equipment and films. Processes x-ray film Reviews radiographs to determine quality and completeness of examination and takes appropriate action.
Selects and operates appropriate equipment to use for procedure. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly. Programs radiology machines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations. Performs exams according to established procedure manual.
Assists Radiologist and/or attending physician with fluoroscopy or localizing procedures as indicated, using sterile technique when applicable. Assists in or administers contrast media.
Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Performs decontamination or asepsis on equipment.
Notifies manager or biomedical tech of equipment problems and documents date, time, location and problem on equipment log.
Assists in maintaining records, reports and files.
