Overview
The Payment Specialist accurately processes a variety of payment-related functions across multiple channels, including ACH, Checks (including foreign deposit items), Faster Payments, Wires (Domestic and International), Remote Capture, ATM operations, and related exceptions, following established procedures while under general supervision. This position ensures accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and regulations while providing courteous and timely service to internal employees and members.

Pay range for this hourly position is $29.17 - $34.11/hr with a progressive benefits package.
Responsibilities
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:
- Adheres to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards in conducting GreenState's mission and vision.
- Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times.
- Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
- Ensures confidentiality of member information.
- Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Receive and post ACH files; handle exceptions, disputes, and government reclamations; reconcile daily ACH activity.
- Post inclearing check files; process returns and exceptions; reconcile negotiable instruments and remote deposit capture files.
- Process incoming and outgoing domestic and international wires; ensure OFAC compliance.
- Balance and monitor GreenState-owned ATMs; coordinate replenishment and fault resolution with vendors; prepare monthly ATM reports.
- Post ITM transactions; process Lockbox and QuickPay files; assist with branch coin machine settlements; support unclaimed property processing.
- Maintain working knowledge of Reg E, NACHA, OFAC, network guidelines (MasterCard, Shazam, Velera), and other regulations as applicable.
- Ensure accurate posting of general ledger entries.
- Act as a first-level escalation point for payment-related issues; collaborate with internal departments and vendors to resolve problems and maintain service standards.
- Reviews ATM/ITM and branch balances to ensure cash is sufficient to meet the operational needs. Coordinates replenishment in accordance with credit union cash management guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain a working level of understanding across all payment areas for backup and coverage purposes.
- Employees are responsible for acting as a subject matter expert in daily payment operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three to six years of related experience in payment operations or financial services, preferably with exposure to ACH, checks, wires, and ATM processing.
Skills & Competencies
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations (Reg E, NACHA, OFAC) and payment network guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in transaction processing.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal teams and vendors.
- Basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for routine and moderately complex issues.
- Ability to follow established procedures and guidelines while exercising sound judgment.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Manager Manager Payment Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
