Job Summary:
The duties of the Maintenance Mechanic are responsible for maintaining the production facility and equipment to ensure safe and quality products. Additionally, responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and support equipment such as HV/AC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration system, processing, and packaging equipment. Broad skills required in mechanical and electrical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, and PLCs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures operations of plant machinery utilizing both electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot equipment and by completing preventive maintenance requirements: controls downtime by ascertaining needed repairs and parts replacement and completing repairs in timely fashion.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by informing production workers of routine techniques, answering questions, and responding to inquiries.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and updating certified skill levels.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Share knowledge of applicable mechanical concepts/ principles with other maintenance personnel.
- Read equipment manuals, blueprints, and other sources of information to build knowledge, and assure appropriate operation and repair of equipment.
- Communicate effectively with outside vendors and equipment manufacturers.
- Inform the appropriate facility personnel/supervisor of any modifications or system malfunctions.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Education & Experience:
- Ability to legally work in the United States
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Technical School graduate preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment strongly preferred.
- Possess basic plumbing, metalworking, and general facilities/ building maintenance welding, machining, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, drafting, and blueprint reading knowledge.
- Proficiency with PLC strongly preferred (Allen Bradley Programming).
- General mechanical skills and knowledge related to troubleshooting and service of various equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in temperatures below 40 degrees.
- Able to grip and grasp small objects repeatedly.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Must be able to pay attention to detail and demonstrate independent reasoning and judgment.
- Able to work in various elements- cold/ heat/ humidity.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to push or pull at a rate of up to 75 pounds of force.
- Ability to read equipment and service manuals.
- Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
- Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Able to work in a cold, damp environment.
- Must be able to stand for 8-9 hours per day.
- Able to bend, twist, stoop on an occasional basis.
- Must have good hand/eye coordination.
Pay range for this position is between $30.00/hr to $35.00/hr depending on experience.
