Senior Accountant

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic finance team within a global organization operating in a complex, asset-intensive industry. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple entities while contributing to month-end close, statutory reporting, and audit processes. The environment is fast-paced, structured, and highly collaborative, with strong exposure to international operations and cross-functional stakeholders. You will work closely with systems such as Oracle and other financial tools to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in managing complexity and delivering high-quality financial insights. Beyond technical execution, the role also allows you to contribute to process improvements and the strengthening of internal controls within a growing and evolving finance function.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage the full month-end close process for assigned entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple systems and reporting standards.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements, statutory reports, and supporting schedules in compliance with ASPE or IFRS requirements.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy across high-volume and complex financial data sets.
  • Record and review key financial transactions, including operating expenses, fuel costs, trade costs, accruals, and equity income from joint ventures.
  • Support annual external audits, including preparation of documentation, analysis of impairments, and drafting of technical accounting position papers.
  • Ensure proper system integration and reconciliation across financial tools such as Oracle, IMOS, and Concur.
  • Maintain insurance claims accounting records and support related financial documentation and reporting.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of accounting policies, internal controls, and process optimization initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a large or complex organizational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS accounting standards with hands-on application experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with familiarity in ERP systems such as Oracle and reporting tools like Power BI considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage and interpret large and complex data sets.
  • Proven experience in month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy, accountability, and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a structured environment.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and proactive working style.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package with performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage, largely employer-paid.
  • Life insurance coverage up to multiple times salary.
  • Pension or RRSP retirement savings plan to support long-term financial security.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with remote flexibility.
  • Wellness support including gym membership allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training and career advancement support.
  • Inclusive and diverse workplace culture focused on collaboration and growth.
