This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic finance team within a global organization operating in a complex, asset-intensive industry. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple entities while contributing to month-end close, statutory reporting, and audit processes. You will work closely with systems such as Oracle and other financial tools to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy. Beyond technical execution, the role also allows you to contribute to process improvements and the strengthening of internal controls within a growing and evolving finance function.
- Manage the full month-end close process for assigned entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple systems and reporting standards.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, statutory reports, and supporting schedules in compliance with ASPE or IFRS requirements.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy across high-volume and complex financial data sets.
- Record and review key financial transactions, including operating expenses, fuel costs, trade costs, accruals, and equity income from joint ventures.
- Support annual external audits, including preparation of documentation, analysis of impairments, and drafting of technical accounting position papers.
- Ensure proper system integration and reconciliation across financial tools such as Oracle, IMOS, and Concur.
- Maintain insurance claims accounting records and support related financial documentation and reporting.
- Contribute to the enhancement of accounting policies, internal controls, and process optimization initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA designation is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a large or complex organizational environment.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS accounting standards with hands-on application experience.
- Advanced Excel skills, with familiarity in ERP systems such as Oracle and reporting tools like Power BI considered a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to manage and interpret large and complex data sets.
- Proven experience in month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support activities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy, accountability, and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a structured environment.
