Job Summary

The Senior Supervisor is a key leader within the retail store, working closely with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily operations, drive sales performance, and uphold an exceptional customer experience. This role builds on advanced retail, merchandising, and labor management skills while adding expanded responsibilities such as supporting scheduling, contributing to higher-level operational decisions, and occasionally traveling to other store locations for training or special initiatives.

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions

Leadership & Staff Development:

  • Direct and oversee the daily work of store associates and supervisors to ensure all operational, sales, merchandising, and customer service standards are met.
  • Assist management in coaching, mentorship, hiring, training, and performance management.

Customer Engagement & Sales:

  • Model outstanding customer service, handle escalated concerns, and support complex sales, fittings and custom orders.
  • Actively drive sales by ensuring product knowledge and service standards are consistently met.

Operational Oversight & Scheduling Support:

  • Support the Store Manager/ASM in maintaining accurate schedules that align staffing with business needs.
  • Monitor daily activities to ensure store operations run smoothly and all associates are following policies.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring compliance with safety, security protocols and all company procedures.
  • Following security procedures for open and closing of the store.

Merchandising & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee merchandising standards and promotional updates, ensuring alignment with company guidelines.
  • Ensure team members meet merchandising and display requirements by assigning tasks and verifying completion.
  • Take a lead role in inventory counts, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure proper stock rotation.

Labor Skills Management:

  • Perform and provide support for advanced services such as skate sharpening, lacrosse stringing, and glove relacing.
  • Ensure all associates performing these tasks are trained and adhere to quality standards.

Cash Handling & Reporting:

  • Support complex transactions, refunds, and daily cash reconciliation processes.
  • Assist management with audits of cash procedures and drawer counts.

Safety, Compliance & Store Appearance:

  • Enforce all safety protocols, loss prevention standards, and ensure store cleanliness across all areas.
  • Proactively identify risks and implement corrective actions.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • May assist with scheduling and coordinating coverage for store events, vendor activations, or peak business periods.
  • Provide feedback on store operations, staffing needs, and sales performance to the Store Manager/ASM.
  • Travel occasionally to nearby store locations to support training or company initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the business and leadership team.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Typically requires 2+ years of retail experience, including demonstrated success in a Supervisor or similar role.

Deep knowledge of MonkeySports product lines (hockey, baseball, lacrosse, goalie).

Proven leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

Strong communication and independent problem-solving abilities.

Comfortable with POS systems, inventory management tools, and overseeing specialized labor services.

Cognitive and Physical Demands

Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Uses sound judgment and takes initiative to resolve escalated customer and operational issues.

Stands and walks for extended periods, regularly bends, lifts up to 50 lbs, and assists with merchandising and labor services.

Able to maintain focus, decision-making, and professionalism under pressure.

Working Conditions

Will assist in stockroom areas and may help unload or move heavy product shipments.

Primary work is on the retail floor, engaging directly with customers and team members.

May be required to assist with stockroom organization and heavy product movement.

Schedule flexibility is essential, including evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts. Weekend work is required.

Occasional travel to other store locations or events required.
