You will take ownership of frontend architecture and Shopify implementation, translating product vision and design concepts into production-ready shopping experiences. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where your work directly influences client revenue and user experience quality.

Accountabilities:

  • Act as Shopify technical lead, defining best practices and reviewing Shopify implementations across projects.
  • Lead Shopify migrations and establish CI/CD pipelines for themes and applications.
  • Translate product requirements and Figma designs into scalable, reusable frontend components.
  • Integrate commerce and content APIs, managing complex frontend state including cart, pricing, and inventory.
  • Ensure storefront performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and reliability across devices and browsers.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce quality standards, and proactively identify technical risks.
  • Collaborate across distributed teams, planning work across multiple client engagements.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining strong engineering judgment and ownership.
Requirements:

This role requires deep expertise in frontend engineering, Shopify ecosystems, and high-quality eCommerce development across multiple client environments.

  • 5+ years of experience building production frontend applications with React and TypeScript.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Shopify (Liquid, Hydrogen, apps, Checkout Extensions, migrations).
  • Proven experience acting as a Shopify technical lead or platform owner.
  • Strong background in headless commerce architectures and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Experience working in agency or multi-client environments with strong delivery ownership.
  • Solid understanding of frontend fundamentals (HTML, CSS, accessibility, responsive design).
  • Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs and managing complex frontend state.
  • Ability to translate Figma designs into accurate, reusable, production-ready UI components.
  • Strong quality mindset with typed, tested, and maintainable code practices.
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in US Central Time overlap.
  • Comfortable working independently as a contractor based in Latin America.
  • Proficiency using AI tools as part of modern frontend engineering workflows.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation: $5,000 USD per month
  • Fully remote independent contractor role
  • Opportunity to lead Shopify technical direction across multiple projects
  • Work with high-growth eCommerce and SaaS brands globally
  • Strong ownership and direct impact on client revenue and user experience
  • Modern AI-native engineering environment with advanced tooling
  • Exposure to headless commerce, design systems, and scalable frontend architecture
  • Collaborative, high-standard team culture focused on craft and outcomes
  • Flexible structure with autonomy over execution and technical decisions
