This role is centered on building high-performance, visually refined, and conversion-focused eCommerce storefronts for ambitious global brands. You will take ownership of frontend architecture and Shopify implementation, translating product vision and design concepts into production-ready shopping experiences. The position requires strong technical leadership across both headless commerce and traditional Shopify builds, ensuring storefronts are fast, scalable, and reliable. You will operate in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with designers, backend engineers, and product stakeholders to deliver impactful digital commerce solutions. As a technical lead for Shopify, you will define best practices, guide implementation standards, and elevate engineering quality across multiple projects. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where your work directly influences client revenue and user experience quality.
The Senior Frontend Engineer (Shopify) is responsible for delivering high-quality eCommerce frontend experiences and leading Shopify development standards across multiple client projects.
- Build production-grade storefronts using React and modern headless frameworks such as Shopify Hydrogen.
- Develop and maintain Shopify solutions including Liquid themes, apps, Checkout Extensions, and store configurations.
- Act as Shopify technical lead, defining best practices and reviewing Shopify implementations across projects.
- Lead Shopify migrations and establish CI/CD pipelines for themes and applications.
- Translate product requirements and Figma designs into scalable, reusable frontend components.
- Integrate commerce and content APIs, managing complex frontend state including cart, pricing, and inventory.
- Ensure storefront performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and reliability across devices and browsers.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce quality standards, and proactively identify technical risks.
- Collaborate across distributed teams, planning work across multiple client engagements.
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining strong engineering judgment and ownership.
This role requires deep expertise in frontend engineering, Shopify ecosystems, and high-quality eCommerce development across multiple client environments.
- 5+ years of experience building production frontend applications with React and TypeScript.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Shopify (Liquid, Hydrogen, apps, Checkout Extensions, migrations).
- Proven experience acting as a Shopify technical lead or platform owner.
- Strong background in headless commerce architectures and modern frontend frameworks.
- Experience working in agency or multi-client environments with strong delivery ownership.
- Solid understanding of frontend fundamentals (HTML, CSS, accessibility, responsive design).
- Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs and managing complex frontend state.
- Ability to translate Figma designs into accurate, reusable, production-ready UI components.
- Strong quality mindset with typed, tested, and maintainable code practices.
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in US Central Time overlap.
- Comfortable working independently as a contractor based in Latin America.
- Proficiency using AI tools as part of modern frontend engineering workflows.
