Challenging Projects:

As an Artificial Intelligence Subject Matter Expert with JCTM, you will assist the Director of the Futures Division in executing the core mission of identifying risks and opportunities across future operating environments. This role will support analysis, tool refinement, and reporting processes that inform Commanding General, Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory and Director, Futures Division decisions on future concepts and capability investments designed to increase United States Marine Corps success in the 10 to 20-year time horizon.

This is a temporary, part-time, on-call position not to extend beyond 31 December 2026. The anticipated total level of effort is 200 hours, averaging approximately 5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Refine a multi-large language model technology horizon-scanning web application tool accessible via NIPR on an external website.
  • Develop and improve the tool’s reporting process to allow for the export of clean PDF reports for transfer through DOTS to classified networks.
  • Support the Director of the Futures Division by applying artificial intelligence, large language model, and web application expertise to strengthen future operating environment analysis.
  • Assist in identifying risks, opportunities, and emerging technology trends relevant to Marine Corps future concepts and capability investments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the tool supports structured analytic workflows, horizon scanning, and decision-quality reporting.
  • Contribute technical recommendations that improve usability, reliability, reporting quality, and mission relevance of the horizon-scanning web application.

You Have:

  • TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Professional experience working with large language models and building web application tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology field related to large language models, artificial intelligence, computer science, software development, web application development, or a related technical discipline; or proven experience successfully completing a project comparable to the responsibilities described above.
  • Experience refining or developing web-based tools, workflows, reports, or dashboards that support analysis, decision-making, or operational planning.
  • Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear, mission-focused recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a temporary, part-time, on-call capacity while meeting defined deliverables and mission timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support clean, professional reporting outputs.

Nice to Haves:

  • Knowledge of Marine Corps warfighting concepts, current Marine Corps Force Design, and associated Navy, Joint, and Department of Defense capabilities development processes.
  • Knowledge of futures-related work, structured analytic techniques, and horizon scanning.
  • Experience supporting military, defense, or national security organizations.
  • Experience developing reporting processes that support PDF export, document generation, or transfer of products between networks.
  • Familiarity with NIPR-accessible web applications and workflows involving DOTS transfer to classified networks.
