Job Description
The Business Sales Developer is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and driving revenue growth within the commercial refrigeration and HVACR market. This position focuses on generating new accounts while expanding business with existing customers by promoting the company's refrigeration, HVAC, service, maintenance, construction, and energy-efficient solutions.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales professional with strong relationship-building skills, technical aptitude, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Success in this role is measured by new customer acquisition, revenue growth, customer retention, and overall sales performance.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development- Identify, qualify, and pursue new commercial refrigeration and HVAC opportunities.
- Develop strategic sales plans to penetrate new markets and expand existing customer relationships.
- Prospect through cold calling, networking, referrals, industry events, and digital outreach.
- Build relationships with facility managers, contractors, engineers, general contractors, grocery chains, restaurants, food distributors, manufacturing facilities, healthcare facilities, schools, municipalities, and other commercial customers.
- Generate and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Understand customer business needs and recommend customized refrigeration and HVAC solutions.
- Conduct customer visits, facility walkthroughs, and project evaluations.
- Deliver presentations outlining products, services, maintenance programs, and value-added solutions.
- Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals
- Develop proposals, estimates, and pricing with internal estimating teams.
- Negotiate contracts while maintaining company profitability.
- Track opportunities through CRM software.
- Follow up on proposals and actively close sales opportunities.
- Work closely with Estimating, Engineering, Project Management, Service, and Operations to ensure successful project execution.
- Coordinate project handoffs after contracts are awarded.
- Provide customer feedback regarding market trends and product opportunities.
- Participate in sales meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, emerging technologies, and customer needs.
- Stay informed on refrigeration regulations, energy efficiency standards, and sustainability initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for expanding service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, retrofit projects, and equipment replacements.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3+ years of outside sales or business development experience.
- Experience in commercial refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical contracting, construction, or industrial sales strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Strong understanding of consultative sales techniques.
