Job Description

Description:

Feeding Northeast Florida (FNEFL) is the regional Feeding America food bank serving a 12-county area across Northeast Florida. Through food distribution, nutrition programs, and strategic partnerships, FNEFL works to strengthen lives and communities by ensuring access to nutritious food for all. This position plays an important role in advancing Feeding Northeast Florida’s Food is Medicine initiatives by integrating nutrition care with food access programs and healthcare partnerships.

Our Mission: We use food as our catalyst to strengthen lives and communities.

Our Vision: Access to nutritious food for all.

Within the Nutrition Department, Feeding Northeast Florida is advancing programs that integrate food access with healthcare delivery. Our Prescriptive Nutrition Program connects food-insecure patients with nutrition care and medically supportive food through partnerships with clinics, community organizations, and food pantry networks.

This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to provide group-based clinical nutrition care in community and virtual settings. Successful candidates understand that food insecurity and nutrition-related disease are influenced by social and economic circumstances and are motivated to reduce barriers to nutrition care through practical, accessible, evidence-based services.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Nutrition Clinical Specialist, RDN is responsible for developing and delivering group nutrition therapy services for Feeding Northeast Florida’s Prescriptive Nutrition Program and related Food is Medicine initiatives.

The role focuses on group Medical Nutrition Therapy, telehealth, curriculum development, and clinical documentation for populations affected by diabetes, hypertension, maternal health conditions, and other nutrition-related chronic diseases. The Clinical Specialist develops and refines group curricula and delivery models within established program goals, with approval from the supervisory RDN as appropriate.

This position also documents participant care and outcomes, supports accurate clinical data collection, and works closely with program and data staff to ensure information can be used for reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is an experienced RDN who is comfortable practicing outside of traditional clinical environments, enjoys group facilitation and curriculum development, and can adapt clinical nutrition care for virtual and community-based settings.

• Provide group nutrition care through telehealth and in community-based settings as needed.

• Apply the Nutrition Care Process and evidence-based clinical guidance appropriately within group care models.

• Adapt clinical content and delivery approaches for participants with different diagnoses, health literacy levels, cultural backgrounds, and access barriers.

• Provide group nutrition therapy related to diabetes, hypertension, maternal health, and other nutrition-related chronic disease needs.

Curriculum Development and Clinical Content

• Develop, test, refine, and maintain evidence-based group nutrition therapy curricula, lesson plans, participant materials, and related clinical resources.

• Adapt curriculum and delivery approaches for telehealth and community-based settings.

• Review and update clinical content based on current evidence, participant needs, program outcomes, and emerging Food is Medicine practices.

• Work within established program goals and obtain supervisory RDN approval for substantive changes to clinical curriculum, protocols, or delivery models.

• Develop practical tools and resources that help participants apply nutrition recommendations within the realities of food access, cost, and other social or economic constraints.

Telehealth Delivery

• Support the effective delivery and continued refinement of group telehealth nutrition services.

• Help identify and address barriers that affect participant access, engagement, and participation in virtual care.

• Maintain consistent clinical quality and participant experience across virtual and in-person group settings.

• Support development of workflows and materials that improve the usability and accessibility of telehealth nutrition services.

• Collaborate with Nutrition Department staff responsible for referrals, program coordination, food access, and data reporting.

• Coordinate with internal teams when clinical services intersect with food distribution, community programs, or partner engagement.
