TITLE: Mechanical and Elecrtical Lead Technician
REPORTS TO: Equipment Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY RANGE: $28.00-$35.00 per hour DOE
FT / PT STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Shipyard(s) & Customer Facilities
SUMMARY
The Mechanical and Elecrtical Lead Technician has a strong background in both mechanical and electrical systems to oversee equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preparation for field deployment. This position will provide technical leadership to technicians while ensuring that equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and serviceable condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate maintenance activities
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Support field operations
- Install, connect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems
- Test and maintain electronic controls for machinery
- Test and assess motors, transformers, generators, electronic controllers on machine tools
- Perform and document preventative maintenance by periodically inspecting equipment, then locating and correcting problems before breakdowns occur
- Advise management of and make repairs to equipment in timely manner to minimize safety hazards, lost time, and excessive costs
- Replace items such as circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical components or wires
- Troubleshoot, and repair or replace mechanical components of our equipment as necessary. Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment in a safe and productive manner
- ensuring work is completed in accordance with company procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and direction to technicians.
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance, repair, inspection, and equipment preparation activities.
- Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Train, mentor, and develop technicians to improve technical capabilities and workmanship.
- Monitor work quality and ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with established procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES
- Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in the manufacturing and marine industries
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Knowledge of three-phase high voltage, control circuits, and be able to read schematic drawings
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, controls, and electrical test equipment.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex written, oral, or diagramed instructions
- Experience in field service, industrial equipment, or equipment rental and deployment operations.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and equipment management systems.
- Ability to carry out and provide written or verbal instruction
- Ability to do simple to complex math
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance priorities.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Highschool Dimploma or Equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated experience working with industrial equipment and electromechanical systems.
- Previous experience providing technical guidance or leadership to other technicians.
- Forklift License (Company May Provide)
- Forklift qualification (Company May Provide)
- OSHA-10 (Company May Provide)
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
- Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Color vision is required for this role.
- May be required to wear a respirator
- Ability to access customer facilities and shipyards.
- Some travel may be required
