Lead Mammography Technologist – RWJBarnabas Health

At RWJBarnabas Health, the Lead Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing advanced radiographic procedures within the scope defined by regulatory and departmental standards.

A typical day for a Lead Mammography Technologist may include:

• Supervising staff technologists.
• Making recommendations regarding the ongoing performance evaluations of supervised staff and resulting performance management action.
• Scheduling coverage for the hours of operation, ensuring supplies are ordered timely, and such issue as safety, employee orientation, employee training, etc. are properly handled.
• Reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. Functions as a staff technologist.
• Correctly positioning patients for routine and diagnostic radiographic imaging of the breast
• Selecting correct exposure factors to produce optimum images in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards
• Assessing breast images for quality assurance based on the guidelines of the American College of Radiology
• Assisting the radiologist in the performance of interventional breast procedures
• Maintaining infection control standards and policies
• Maintaining equipment by performing daily quality control tests

To be considered for this Lead Mammography Technologist opportunity, you must:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an AMA accredited School of Radiology Program; completion of the required initial 40 hours of training specific to breast imaging; continuing education as required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the FDA/Mammography Quality Standards Act.
• ARRT certified in Radiology and Mammography, NJ State x-ray license
• Must be able to communicate effectively by speaking clearly and distinctly in English.
