Telehealth Psychotherapist – Children's Specialized Hospital, RWJBarnabas Health

As a Telehealth Psychotherapist, you will provide individualized diagnostic evaluation and evidence-based psychotherapy to patients with a wide range of developmental, behavioral, emotional, medical, and neurodevelopmental presentations while partnering with families and an interdisciplinary care team to promote emotional regulation, adaptive coping, behavioral functioning, and participation in everyday activities. A typical day for a Telehealth Psychotherapist may include:

• Providing evidence-based psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform

• Conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to identify patients' strengths, needs, and emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychological concerns

• Interpreting assessment data and communicating evaluation findings and treatment recommendations accurately and sensitively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care team members

• Developing and implementing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans designed to improve emotional regulation, adaptive coping, behavioral functioning, and overall well-being

• Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans and therapeutic interventions as clinically indicated

• Providing support to patients and families coping with chronic illness, injury, disability, and other medical or rehabilitation needs in collaboration with physicians and rehabilitation therapists

• Providing education, counseling, and support to parents and caregivers of children newly diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder

• Participating in interdisciplinary autism diagnostic evaluations and facilitating Autism Diagnostic Interviews as needed

• Collaborating with families, schools, community providers, physicians, rehabilitation professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support treatment goals

• Identifying and appropriately responding to safety concerns while following established clinical, ethical, and organizational protocols

• Communicating effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members through verbal and written communication

• Providing clinical supervision, training, and mentorship to staff, fellows, interns, and externs as applicable

• Providing education, in-service training, and professional support to staff and community agencies as requested

• Participating in case conferences, program development initiatives, and interdisciplinary activities that support patient care and organizational goals

• Completing timely, accurate clinical documentation that meets ethical, legal, regulatory, and professional standards while supporting care coordination and department productivity expectations

To Be Considered:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.

• Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted New Jersey professional licensure required to practice psychotherapy via telehealth. Eligible licenses include LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.

• Additional Licensure: Active and unrestricted professional licensure in the clinician's state of residence is preferred, when applicable.

• Certification: American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification preferred.

• Experience: Pediatric behavioral health or rehabilitation clinical experience is preferred, along with knowledge of developmental, behavioral, emotional, psychological, and neurodevelopmental conditions and evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches. At least one year of relevant clinical experience is preferred.

• Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong clinical judgment, sound diagnostic and therapeutic skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Telehealth: Ability to provide secure, confidential, and professional telehealth services to patients physically located in New Jersey and maintain a private, HIPAA-compliant workspace with reliable internet connectivity.

• Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week schedule. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes a minimum number of weekly appointment hours during designated high-demand scheduling hours, including 3:00 PM–8:00 PM ET on weekdays and/or weekends, in accordance with program and scheduling requirements.
