About the Role:
The Senior Underwriter plays a critical role in evaluating and assessing risks associated with insurance applications to ensure profitable and sustainable business growth. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in the insurance industry.
- Minimum of 5 years or workers compensation auditor experience.
- Strong knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles, and regulatory environment in the United States.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and financial analysis.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional underwriting certifications such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or AU (Associate in Underwriting).
- Experience with specialized insurance lines such as commercial, property, casualty, or specialty risks.
- Familiarity with underwriting software and data analytics tools.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing underwriting teams or projects.
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline or business administration.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and analyze insurance applications, financial statements, and risk factors to determine policy eligibility and terms.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and strategies to optimize risk selection and pricing.
- Collaborate with sales teams, brokers, and clients to clarify coverage needs and negotiate terms.
- Review and approve complex or high-value insurance policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance and adjust underwriting approaches based on emerging trends and loss experience.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters to enhance team capabilities and knowledge.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support underwriting decisions and audit requirements.
