Job Description:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations to ensure efficiency, quality, food safety, and employee safety in a fast‑paced food processing environment. This role leads production teams, ensures adherence to schedules, and drives continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Essential Functions:

-Production Operations & Supervision: Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet output, quality, and efficiency targets. Monitor production line performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions. Ensure proper staffing levels and assign daily tasks based on production schedules. Maintain smooth shift transitions and communicate key updates between teams.

-Compliance & Safety: Maintain compliance with FDA/USDA, HACCP, GMP, and company food safety policies. Enforce safety protocols for docks, forklifts, material handling and address as needed.

-Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and motivate a team of production employees, including leads and line workers. Provide training on SOPs, safety procedures, GMPs, and job responsibilities. Address performance issues, attendance concerns, and disciplinary actions as needed. Foster a positive, accountable, and team‑oriented work environment.

-Safety & Operational Excellence: Enforce workplace safety policies and promote a safety‑first culture. Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of equipment. Identify and report safety hazards; implement corrective measures. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, waste reduction, and productivity.

-Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with QA, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams. Communicate production priorities and changes to leadership and
support teams. Support maintenance activities and minimize downtime during production.

-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in food production, manufacturing, or related environment.

Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.

Skills:

•Strong knowledge of GMP, food safety, and production processes.
•Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
•Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
•Experience in produce or perishable food environments.
•Familiarity with yield management and efficiency tracking.
•Bilingual (English/Spanish).
•Ability to work in cold, wet environment for extended periods.
•Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
•High attention to detail and accuracy.
•Strong commitment to food safety and regulatory compliance.
•Ability to stand as a role model for GMPs and safety practices.
•Effective communication across multiple departments.
•Problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•May require flexibility and ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overtime during peak production periods.

Work Environment:

•Work performed in a cold (34–38°F), wet, and fast‑paced production environment.
•Frequent exposure to water, fresh produce, and production equipment.
•Regular presence on production floor with continuous employee interaction.
•Required to follow all PPE guidelines, including hairnets, gloves, aprons, sleeves, and safety footwear.
•Closed‑toe, slip‑resistant footwear is required at all times.
•Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and variable temperatures.

Physical Demands:

•Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts).
•Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and walking production lines.
•Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40–50 pounds as needed.
•Ability to work in cold and wet environments continuously.
•Manual dexterity to operate equipment controls and handle materials.
•Visual acuity to monitor production quality and safety conditions.
•Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
