Job Title: Accounting Intern (Full-time)
Department: Client ServicesHours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
Summary:The Full-Time Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the bookkeeping, payroll, and administrative functions of a growing fractional accounting firm. This internship provides immersive exposure to client accounting operations, financial reporting, and professional firm practices under the direct mentorship of the Consulting Bookkeeper and Assistant Bookkeeper. Ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing a career in accounting, finance, or business administration.
Responsibilities:A. Bookkeeping, Payroll, and Client Services:- Assist in maintaining financial records for multiple clients using accounting software.
- Support the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable under supervision.
- Help post financial transactions (debits and credits) to appropriate ledgers and journals.
- Assist with reconciling bank statements and credit card accounts.
- Support the preparation of financial reports (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Observe and learn payroll processing, including wage calculations, deductions, withholdings, and tax filings.
- Learn and comply with GAAP and applicable accounting regulations.
- Assist with answering phones and emails professionally.
- Help schedule appointments and manage calendars.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and documents as needed.
- Maintain client files and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Organize physical and electronic filing systems.
- Assist with special projects and ad-hoc tasks.
- Provide documentation and reports to support client account reviews.
- Help prepare materials for internal and external meetings.
- Participate in internal team meetings and training sessions.
- Engage in shadowing opportunities to learn industry best practices.
- Complete assigned learning modules or professional development activities.
- Availability: Must be available 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday.
- Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Microsoft Proficient: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Google Suite Proficient: Working knowledge of Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive).
- Technology Comfort: Comfortable using computers and learning new software quickly.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized and On Time: Strong organizational and time-management skills in a remote environment.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
- Eager Learner: Willing to ask questions, take direction, and apply feedback.
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Background Check: Must pass a background check with no criminal history.
