Job Description
Shift Supervisor - First Shift
Who We Are
TruCut Incorporated is the leading supplier of out-of-production and low-volume service parts for the HVAC industry. With more than 50 years of experience, we specialize in providing comprehensive solutions for manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution for our OEM customers.
We operate three manufacturing facilities in Salem and Sebring, Ohio, and a distribution center in Alliance, Ohio—home to over 100 dedicated team members. We’re ISO 9001:2015 certified, practice Open Book Management, and play The Great Game of Business because we believe work should be rewarding and engaging.
Right now, we’re looking to bring a First Shift Supervisor on board due to tremendous growth opportunities, someone who is passionate about meeting production demands while helping to develop your employees, solve bottlenecks and maintain a safe working environment.
Types of Things You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be working hard on the production floor learning our manufacturing processes and working hand in hand with our many talented team members. It cannot be emphasized enough that this is a position that will require you to be on the floor. This is not a position for someone that wants to remain in the office and learn from a computer.
Some of the work you’ll be doing includes:
- Lead the heartbeat of the shop floor—keep operations clean, organized, and running at peak performance.
- Build and develop a winning team by training new hires and supporting employees to grow their skills and confidence.
- Drive results through data—monitor performance metrics like efficiency, labor usage, and gross margin to keep the business moving forward.
- Keep everything accurate and accountable by ensuring job records, inventory transactions, and system updates are done right the first time.
- Be the link between planning and production by working closely with scheduling to coordinate daily priorities and workloads.
- Champion quality and safety by verifying inspections, maintaining standards, and making sure every job meets expectations.
- Think like an owner by embracing the “Great Game of Business” and helping your team understand how their work impacts success.
Of course, you’ll be supported by TruCut’s Quality, Purchasing and Engineering teams. You’ll work closely with Production Scheduling to understand how we operate and what jobs are scheduled to be run. You will be active within our Safety teams and be expected to provide sound leadership when it comes to safety and hazard recognition.
Types of Things You Won’t Be Doing
You won’t be stuck behind a desk all day or buried in corporate red tape. In fact, we prefer that you are out on your floor interacting with your employees and monitoring production while also looking for any safety concerns.
How We Define Success in This Role
Success here means you’re approachable, dependable, and consistent. People know they can count on you to follow through, speak up when something’s off, and be a voice for what’s right. You’ll thrive if you’re curious, resourceful, and can balance being empathetic with being firm.
What We’d Like from You
Ideally, you have a bachelor’s degree in business or management, or equivalent. You have at least five years of experience in the field with, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and you understand the importance of confidentiality, communication, and keeping things organized. You’re comfortable with Microsoft Office, learning new systems, and asking questions.
What You’ll Get in Return
- A competitive wage based on experience and skills.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
- Supplemental insurance availability.
- 401(k) with 4% match.
- Gainsharing bonuses of up to 15%.
- A company-funded $25,000 life insurance policy.
- Paid holidays (8, or 9 if you’re a veteran!) and PTO.
- Tuition reimbursement for job-related continuing education.
- A positive, stable work environment where people genuinely enjoy coming to work—and eating donuts on Fridays.
Who Are Your Coworkers?
You’ll be working with down-to-earth, smart, and driven people who care about their work and their coworkers. We’re a team of problem-solvers, DIYers, parents, musicians, coaches, travelers, and people who believe in doing great work and treating others with respect.
Sound like a fit. Send us your resume and anything else you think we should know. We can’t wait to meet you.
