JOB DESCRIPTION/TYPICAL TASK BREAKDOWN:

  • Member of the Spark Ignited Gas Engine Performance team within LPSD
  • Work in a fast-paced environment developing engine systems
  • Applications include Electric Power, Gas Compression, Marine, Petroleum, and other spark-ignited uses

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure engine systems meet program requirements for performance, controls, emissions, and software
  • Apply simulation, analysis, and engineering judgment to deliver program goals
  • Develop performance requirements and validate controls algorithms
  • Conduct combustion and system-level simulations using GT-Power
  • Perform engine performance mapping in test cells
  • Validate final software for performance and emissions compliance
  • Support field follow engines to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Typical task breakdown:

- Engine performance requirements development

- Engine performance calibration, mapping, and validation

- Reporting at Design reviews, and project status reports to Leadership.

- Support of product validation in a test cell and/or field environment

- Engine System modeling

- Engine System analysis

- Project Planning

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in an accredited Mechanical/Electrical or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Experience in performance development of IC engines.
  • And/or experience in the simulation/modeling/analysis of IC engine systems and/or sub-systems. GT power modeling experience is desired.
  • Strong understanding of engine fundamentals and spark ignited combustion.
  • Methodical and data driven approach to problem solving.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Simulation or engine modeling experience

The pay range for this role is:
60,000 - 70,000 USD per year(Lafayette Engine Center)
