Role Description:

This is a hands-on, detail oriented Senior Staff Accountant position, ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi location business environment and enjoys improving processes, collaborating with cross functional partners, and guiding junior team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform month end, quarter end, and year end close processes, including accruals, lease liability, prepaid expenses, and other key journal entries.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns for 15+ locations, staying current with compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross departmental teams to maintain financial accuracy and operational alignment.
  • Support staff accountant and AP/AR roles.
  • Help identify and implement process improvements to shorten close timelines and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Completes special project work as assigned.
  • Tasks and responsibilities are subject to change as business needs dictate.
Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and month-end close.
  • Minimum of two years of extensive experience with NetSuite including GL, AP, purchase order billing, and reporting.
  • Strong accounting foundation with the ability to analyze complex transactions and prepare accurate journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
  • Experience with Shopify POS, preferred not required.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF(S), IF functions..
  • Experience with mentoring and training junior accounting staff preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and significant experience in preparation of periodic financial reporting packages.
  • Prior experience in preparation and/or review of periodic journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals.
  • Detail oriented with strong organization skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, via phone, and video conferencing
  • Occasionally move or lift office materials up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, boxes, or equipment)
  • Ability to navigate an office environment and attend in-person meetings as required
